Mulvaney: Trump Won't 'Weaponize' Potential Shutdown Like Obama Did in 2013 By Debra Heine January 19, 2018
Director of the Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney said Friday morning that if the government shuts down it will look very different from the shutdown of 2013, when former President Obamas administration did things to "hurt people."
Mulvaney added: There's no other way to describe it. The Obama administration weaponized the shutdown in 2013. The budget director was referring to what at the time was referred to as "shutdown theater," when the Obama administration unnecessarily closed popular attractions like national parks.
Mulvaney told reporters at the White House that the Trump administration would not be doing the same. "What [the Obama administration] didn't tell you was they did not encourage agencies to use 'carry forward' funds," he said, explaining that the Obama administration had funds at their disposal to lessen the effect of the shutdown on Americans. "Nor did they encourage agencies to use transfer authority. They could have made the shutdown in 2013 much less impactful," he added.
Mulvaney said he had concluded the Obama administration chose to make the shutdown worse for political purposes.
We're going to manage the shutdown differently, we're not going to weaponize it," he said. "Were not going to try and hurt people, especially people who work for the federal government."

I hope everyone remembers what Obama’s shutdown look like and then Compares it to this shut down.
Obama ‘weaponized’ the entire government and the Republicans haven’t figured it out yet.
Not one vote for a tax cut by a Democrat. Not one vote to keep government open by a Democrat.
We were in San Francisco for a long weekend when this happened. We love the Headlands Overlook, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge.....best view of San Francisco ever. That weekend as we tried to go up there, we found a gate across the road and two rangers standing at the gate. They werent even letting bicyclists or pedestrians go up to the Overlook. We have been there 10-20 times and have NEVER seen a ranger anywhere near there! I think Obama lost a lot of supporters during that ridiculous time of punishing the average citizen for Congress not doing its job.
THIS is the message;
One percent of the population controlled the democrat tactic of high jacking our nation of it's sovereignty.
I believe a greater generation will become known in a relatively short time, namely; Our active service will go on public record stating something like they'll fight for the USA and President Trump whether they get paid or not because it is the great again American way !
The socialist onslaught via the democrat party has had the hell bombed out of them and schmuckie doesn't even know it.
My next tweet! Thank you.
I remember the 2013 all too well. My wife, sister and I were on a trip up the scenic drive from Natchez to Jack Daniels Distillery over to the Smokey Mountains.
There are numerous parks on this beautiful trip and it was in the fall during color change.
Every place that I could pull our bus over where there was a barricade to the park, I moved the barricade to the ditch.

“During a stopover in Ireland, Pence greeted US soldiers at Shannon Airport in Ireland hours after the federal government shutdown. Pence told troops: Well get this thing figured out in Washington.
He told the soldiers to stay focused on your mission.
Pence told reporters that we have soldiers that are headed down range to Kuwait for six months in a critical theater to serve the country, and yet because of Democrats in the Senate, they have anxiety about their pay.
He said: Its disappointing to every American that Democrats would shut down the government at a time when we have troops in harms way.

During a shutdown are any aspects of the Constitution curtailed? Can, for example, the president take unilateral action over his branch where Congressional approval would otherwise be required? Does a shutdown mean anything more than that some bill payments are postponed? How is this different than at any other time when the gov does not pay its bills on time?
This time - all Parks concessionaires will remain open if they can handle their own trash removal.
Cash Flow Positve is a wonderful thing
basically - DJT has complete discresion which agencies to temporarily suspend. The Feds run a 10% deficit so all DJT needs to do is find 10-15% fat and cut it. Then the feds will run cash flow positive.
Its a wonderful thing
Time to up the stakes.
Bring up a military and DHS funding bill ONLY.
Lets see where these scumbag politicians vote on that.
As for the rest of the “non-essential” government, it can and SHOULD be SHUT DOWN FOREVER!
When the people realize that they are being taxed to pay a bunch of do nothing imbeciles that arent even necessary, all hell will break loose.
This is the perfect opportunity to PERMANENTLY reduce the size of the FEDERAL APPARATCHIK.
As long as the military and ONLY essential elements of government are funded, there is no reason to bring the rest of them back.
“Despite the drama, a shutdown is not really a shut down. Essential services continue.
Its more of a scale-back, and the government has a lot of discretion as to what gets scaled back. In a press conference today OMB Director Mick Mulvaney made the point that many agencies have reserve funds that can be used, but werent used in the 2013 shutdown.”

The List: Unnecessarily Shut Down by Obama to Inflict Public Pain
by John Nolte5 Oct 2013 4,316
While our president still enjoys his essential employees and locations: the White House chefs, Camp David, and a military golf course, there doesnt seem to be any question that in mercenary pursuit of a political win, this White House is determined to unreasonably punish as many everyday people as possible. And this includes children sick with cancer. That might sound like hyperbole, but it is not.
Although Barack Obamas chefs have been deemed essential, employees at the National Institutes of Health who offer last-chance experimental cancer treatments for children suffering from cancer have not. Worse still, House Republicans have offered to compromise with the president and single the NIH out for funding. The White House has threatened a veto.
Using children sick with cancer as pawns is community organizing on steroids. And the media are covering for him. When the media thought they could emotionally blackmail the GOP with these sick children, telling their story was all the rage. Now that it is Obama and Senate Democrats wrist-flicking refusing treatment for these children, suddenly the media arent too interested in telling their story.
There are many other examples of this presidents cold-hearted fanaticism and willingness to punish people for reasons that seem to have much more to with spite than what is and is not essential. In fact, there are a number of examples where Obama seems to be spending more money and using more resources to close and block and inconvenience than to just leave it alone.
The media may or may not report on these individual occurrences, but what they will never do is provide the American people with the full context and scope of Obamas shrill pettiness.
Below is a list of illogical, unnecessary, and shockingly spiteful moves our government is making in the name of essential and non-essential.
This list will be regularly updated, and if you have something you feel should be added, please email me at jnolte@breitbart.com or tweet me @NolteNC.Please include a link to the news source.

Obama.
Such a nice man.....
Always putting the country first and doing nice things.
And it’s not just trump who is speaking out and speaking the truth.
Mulvaney — director of OMB.
Sweet.
It’s about time a little truth was spoken in DC.
Shine some light — watch the roaches scatter.
“Visitors to national parks will be prevented from using the full-service restrooms. Tourists wont be able to get into the National Air and Space Museum after Sunday. The Internal Revenue Service will stop issuing refunds, but it will also stop conducting audits.
At first glance, the tangible consequences of the latest government shutdown may seem less than overwhelming. After all, the mail will still get delivered, airport control towers will still be staffed and the border patrol will continue to guard the country.
