In advance of an Anglo-French summit this week, French President Emmanuel Macron officially offered to loan the Bayeux Tapestry to Britain. The tapestry depicts the campaign that culminated in the victory at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 of William the Conqueror —the duke of Normandy and later king of England — over Harold Godwinson, the last of the Anglo-Saxon kings. It suits the martial setting of the conference, to be held at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst near London, and its focus on Anglo-French defense cooperation.
More broadly, however, the loan of the tapestry is a fitting diplomatic gesture: It symbolizes who Macron is and what he wants to do at home and abroad.

He is definitely a step up for France...but he lacks the level of resolve and courage of conviction of Trump.
Macron is too wishy washy on social issues and the need to restore respect for civic faith in France. Still too much of a secularist in my view.
Europe is held back by its penchant for climate change dogma, anti-Israel stances (even though Macron is trying to address anti-Semitism), social liberalism, etc...

1. Yes, he did. 2.Yes, she is. 3. It seems, and demonstrates the answer, is yes. 4. With the emasculation of ‘Old Europe’, it had to be demonstrated, ahem, ‘somewhere’, so good old France won the lottery, since Germany already has ‘a big mama’.
Geopolitical and economically, I think Macron is the right man at the right time for France and by extension the EU. Everything else he should deal with adequately, will probably be on the stage a while and maybe a repeat performance.
