Pictures show empty shelves at Whole Foods stores across the country, thanks to their new policy

Whole Foods used to keep a large amount of extra stock in back rooms and freezers so it could restock its shelves as soon as merchandise was sold (which pretty much all supermarkets do). However, according to Business Insider, the chain has recently gotten rid of that policy, and replaced it with a new policy that transfers items directly from delivery trucks to store shelves. This is causing many store shelves to be empty.

This new policy was started prior to the chain’s recent purchase by amazon.

Whole Foods says it adopted this new policy in order to save money.

The fact that it is causing many customers to abandon the chain and switch to a different one does not, for whatever weird reason, seem to be of concern to the chain’s high level executives. Apparently, their only concern is saving money.

Here are some pictures from Whole Foods stores across the country:

For those of you who didn’t understand my post, because it was apparently too subtle: https://amp.dailycaller.com/2018/01/15/san-francisco-defecation-map .

Where I come from, this is not normal. So people tend to speak out about it. Sorry if I offended anyone who considers it normal.

“It takes us about 15 minutes to unpack our monthly’s Costco bulk beef, pork, lamb, chicken, ocean salmon and other seafood and re wrap for our freezer.”

You may want to look into a vacuum sealer. It greatly extends the storage life of frozen foods and eliminates freezer burn. We use a pressure canner to put up our own soups and stews. Takes some time but the end result is worth it. There’s nothing like opening a jar of something you put back yourself. Less sodium, we know exactly what’s in it, and it’s darned tasty, too.

Dungeness for $4 a pound? The best we do is $6.99 at Costco! Best crab on Earth IMO. Good luck.

In a sense Walmart (rural) is to Trump as Publix (city) is to Hillary. IOW Walmart’s success may be due to the same people that voted for Trump.

This is Whole Foods in Venezuela or the way it would have been in the USA if clinton was elected.

The article said that Amazon did not start this idea. It does surprise me that Amazon has continued it however. Unless they don’t really want the retail store part of the business which doesn’t make sense.

A grocery store without a stockroom isn’t a grocery store. It’s an imitation of an old Soviet Union market.

When I had a Myspace page, I had never heard of Facebook.

I just watched a movie from that era, it mentioned Myspace a lot. Never mentioned Facebook.

I love amazon prime, but I know how markets turn. I was one of the first adapters of Gmail because I saw google as a small startup at the time.

Perceptions change.

Sigh. What are you talking about? I just pointed out that WFs keeps many foods behind glass (and not just frozen food). Your preening subtlety was lost on me because it was incorrect.

How about the wilful destruction of a company?

There’s reason to believe that “Atlas Shrugged” was both a declaration and a blueprint.

The manufacturing JIT model may not work in a grocery environment...

I’d think the opposite, certainly as far as produce and perishables are concerned. Plus, money tied up in inventory can be used more effectively than for something just sitting there.

I’d think the opposite

Well, the evidence (the article), in this case, would argue with you.

A Whole Foods store in a high-crime neighborhood?
That will fail for so many reasons.

If they are running it like Walmart, why is there plenty of produce in our Walmart in a little town in Texas?

My peeve with Walmart is they carry so many items that their stock is very thin and they run out of individual items to the point of being an unreliable supplier.

JIT originated in Japan, where the increased used of small delivery trucks that resulted from JIT got to be a pollution headache. Like Rosanna Danna’s father said, “It’s always something.”

I never had a problem with Meijer.
Their people were quick and professional. I loved delivering to their distribution centers.
Wal-Mart could learn a thing or two from them.
Never heard of Spartan, doesn’t sound like I missed anything.

Wasn’t Farmer Jacks what was left after the unions destroyed A&P?

I know here A&P closed all their stores and reopened them as Super Fresh but still had the old union problems.
I’m thinking they sold out, closed most of their stores here and rebranded their northern stores as Farmer Jacks.

Back in the day the A&P stores were great but didn’t change with the times because they were shackled by the unions.

Most of my Wally World visits come just before seven PM. The deli drops everything in the hot cases to half price. Their Mac and Cheese goes into the freezer in 1.25-1.35 cartons, etc. A whole frtied chicken or rotisserie for 3 bucks is hard to beat, just watch to make sure it came out to package no earlier than 4 or 5 pm.
