AG Sessions orders examination of Bundy case after mistrial over prosecution bungling
Washington Times ^ | 12/21/17 | Valerie Richardson

Attorney General Jeff Sessions stepped into the Bundy prosecution after Wednesday’s mistrial, ordering a third-party examination of the case in light of the latest government snafu.

“The attorney general takes this issue very seriously and has personally directed that an expert in the [Justice Department’s] discovery obligations be deployed to examine the case and advise as to the next steps,” said Ian D. Prior, the department’s principal deputy director of public affairs, in a late Wednesday statement.

The decision to intervene came after Chief U.S. District Court Judge Gloria Navarro declared a mistrial over the government’s “willful failure to disclose information” to the defense, saying it would have been “impossible” for the four co-defendants to receive a fair trial.

“Failure to turn over such evidence violates due process,” Judge Navarro said in the courtroom, the Arizona Republic reported. “A fair trial at this point is impossible.”

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, his sons Ammon and Ryan Bundy, and Ryan Payne of Montana have been charged with 15 felony counts stemming from the 2014 armed standoff with the Bureau of Land Management at the Bundy ranch near Bunkerville.

Sessions put the spotlight on the prosecutors when he complimented them several months back. Now that they effed it up good, they are not only caught trying to abuse their power and status, but they have embarrassed their boss and their department.

I cant say whether this was a calculated chess move or just dumb luck, but justice looks like its (slowly) awakening.

Sessions already stepped on a rake in this case.

Side note: I’m truly of the belief that a) Sessions isn’t very bright, and b) people have learned it is easy to blow smoke up his ancient butt. They use his “Southern Gentleman” naivete to manipulate him. And he gets left holding the bag. In public.

This quisling POS belongs in PRISON, his next and last appearance in any court should be his own Sentencing for a Very Long time.

Acting U.S. Attorney Steven W. Myhre, who oversees the prosecution, said he welcomed the input from D.C.

Judge Navarro said the prosecutors had willfully failed to disclose key evidence in the case, including FBI records about surveillance and government snipers at the Bundy ranch, activity logs, law enforcement threat assessments showing the Bundy family posed no threat of violence, and internal reports about BLM agent misconduct.

Wow, is this the second time today I’ve seen something that Sessions has done? He must have heard he’s not on a lot of people’s “nice list” :)

It seems as though the analysis of Sessions “playing possum” in order to entrap the Deep State and the FBI plotters may have been correct.

It is funny the cases that wake up Jeff Sessions. If it was a dimoKKKRAT he would still be watching I Love Lucy reruns.

OMG please give it up. Jeff Sessions isn't doing anything other than desperately trying to make it look like he is doing something.

President Trump got the tax bill passed. Time to ask for Sessions resignation ASAP..........ok I mean RFN.

Jeff Sessions must be replaced now.

“Apparently Sessions is alive after all.”

*******************************************************************
Maybe “alive” but I won’t believe he’s no longer a puppet of the resident DOJ Deep Staters until I see from him some actual defiance of his puppet-masters.

Sessions, WTF? You want to provide bureaucratic cover for your little statist oppressors by having an “expert” come back and say the case should be dismissed simply because of a technicality. The meme would be that a perfectly righteous but complex case by honest non agenda-driven federal prosecutors had to be “pulled” because of INADVERTENT prosecutorial mistakes. No light-of-day examination of the merits (actually non-merits) of this OPPRESSIVE PERSECUTION? Awards and high performance ratings to be showered upon the responsible federal employees?
SESSIONS, you are a PATHETIC COWARD!

Prosecutors don’t make mistakes.

It is not justice, it is win or no win.

That seemed to be the intent of this prosecution and the Obama regime. A fair trial was not to be considered.

I agree it is a question. But I have discovered over the years that one should never underestimate the impact of stupidity and arrogance in human endeavors.
