When the Titanic struck an iceberg, the crew might have rushed to the storeroom, grabbed the materials and spruced up the ship with a shiny new coat of paint. Women in their beautiful fur coats could stand on deck, admiring the lustrous sheen, as everyone pointed to it saying, What a thing of beauty!
The new paint job would have succeeded to the extent that it would make the Titanic more lovely, but today we would recognize that it might have been kind of beside the point.
Word has now reached us that congressional Republicans have passed tax reform. Everyone is standing around admiring the lustrous sheen, pointing to it and saying, what a thing of beauty!
The iceberg is immigration and the Titanic is our country.

You are completely correct. I put you on the my reply by mistake.
You are now banished to die unterweld.
No, it is LEGAL immigration that will destroy us. Currently, it is over a million per year - non-white, non-Christian, non-English speaking people.
If the current rate is maintained, in fifty years, only one in seven births will be white, traditional American.
Am I the only one who finds it ironic -- and downright hypocritical -- when a childless New England WASP like Ann Coulter complains about immigration?
Good points. Many educated foreigners make their entry into the US via university education. Graduate school in the US, even at lower ranked colleges is seen as a resume enhancer back at their home country. In my graduate school days, a few classmates returned home, but the majority used it as a springboard to stay here. Also, it may have changed since those days, but my faculty were very eager to have US grad students - getting grants and funding was no problem for us if we could make the grade - not a lot of money, but enough to live on, attend grad school and have some spare change.
I agree, hence why I said, “even legal immigration (including all these so-called “refugees”) needs to be curtailed”.
I can’t believe that I once thought Ann was so intelligent.
She does have the knack of using words to get her point across, but she has, as many do, believed her press. She has descended to the ranks of “let me say anything that gets attention.”
I, now, see her as an annoyance, an airhead. Something that I did not foresee.
Good one here by Ann
One point: ...but Republicans will be bewildered by how popular theyll be.
My observation is they dont desire popularity, but that they individually want to strike the balance of being in office in the minority party
+1.
Maybe Annie thinks her BFF, Willard Romney, would have that wall built, by now. Or, would’ve accomplished that and ALL that Trump has done, so far, in this time.
Geez.
Did it ever occur to Ann that in order to build up the momentum to address illegal immigration, first Trump just needed to get some wins in Congress, and start to get Republicans on his side and willing to work with him? I’m not the biggest fan of the tax bill, myself, but if this had not passed, it would have been a disaster for his Presidency.
Yes, he would have sprinkled fairy dust and voila! A wall.
Not bloody likely, Annie.
Nailed it.
Anyone who uses the term “immigration” instead of “illegal alien invasion” has drank the kool aid.
Who is ann’s audience? Not conservatives. So who? Fake news producers? I’m lost.
I agree with her on several points.
Trump wasn’t elected to give us a tax break. He was elected to bring companies home from overseas and to convince others to not leave. Hence lowering the corporate tax. The rest of the tax bill was just GOP muddying the water, which almost killed it.
And he was elected to solve the immigration problem. While there is a huge problem with illegal immigration, there is also a huge problem with legal immigration. We bring in 2 million people per year, maybe half legal and half illegal. By the time you add in “refugees”, H1b and H2b, and other categories, the true numbers may be much higher still. Then factor in another million lost to abortion, and you have huge demographic shifts over a decade or two.
Which means, huge social and political shifts. Which we have seen, all of us.
Ann’s point is, if we don’t solve that problem, the other problems aren’t going to matter anymore.
You appear to have problems with grammar as well as the difference between your opinion and my facts.
The snarky bitch does have a long neck, admits to screwing looney lefties, and I have thrown away all of her books.
My dago ass is better than this skanky, snarky bitch...that's my opinion...and while you have your opinion, I don't give a rat's ass about it.
In the words from our Aussie friends, "Piss off, mate".
You are so right. These days all she does is complain and never happy about anything. I just tune her out.
At first I thought you were one of the unhinged who was have a bad morning.
But, I’ve revised my opinion of your dago, wop, guinea, ginzo, ass: if anyone would recognize snark in another person it would have to be you.
You’re genuine after all.
I agree, except that I know of snarkier ones with her charm.
