The FCC (Federal Communications Commission ) voted (3-2 vote) on Thursday to roll back Obama era legislation that established far reaching rules regarding how ISPs (internet service providers) should treat traffic on their networks. The 2015 net neutrality legislation was one of the most important regulatory action of Barack Obamas administration, and it required ISPs to treat all internet traffic the same, i.e. without slowing/blocking content, nor providing discriminatory broadband for favored services or websites.
According to the GOP, the rolling back of net-neutrality legislation is a good thing, as they seem to favor a deregulated internet if you like, free markets and all that, which may result in an improved experience for customers, things like more choices and lower prices, together with a faster internet.

I don’t think this is a good thing.
If you have ‘unlimited’ data but don’t use a whole lot you are subsidizing the big movie streamers and gamers. A likely result is that multiple plans will be marketed, which will more accurately reflect what the customer uses. (That’s how my satellite internet works.)
The way it is supposed to work, Congress passes laws and the FCC creates regulations to implement the statutes. The FCC isn't supposed to just take it upon themselves to make up rules because they feel like it.
If Congress wants broadband providers to be regulates as Title II common carriers, then they can pass a law stating such, and I'm sure chairman Pai will be more than happy to implement rules enforcing those new laws.
But rolling back unlawful actions of a previous administration is always a good thing.
How come?
“I dont think this is a good thing.”
I don’t know if the actual rollback is good or bad.
I know it’s overwhelmingly seen as bad by the public. That will be costly at the ballot box.

I say the less government intrusion and regulation, the better.
Although FCC is getting rid of Obama era federal overreach, it remains that Congress is still wrongly letting non-elected federal officials get away with exercising constitutionally nonexistent fed powers imo.
In other words, Congress is wrongly nullifying voting power by letting non-elected federal officials get away with stealing and exercising state powers.
What a mess!
Yes, it is confusing.
So its arguably business as usual with the deep state Congress left over from the lawless Obama Administration.
This is because corrupt Congress has always been the real problem with corrupt feds imo, lawless Obama being Congresss useful idiot, particularly during Obamas last term.
All roads of corruption in the federal government lead to Congress, the post-17th Amendment ratification Senate in particular imo.
Corrections, insights welcome.
Patriots now need to be making sure that there are plenty of state sovereignty-respecting, Trump-supporting patriot candidates on the 2018 primary ballots, and pink-slip career lawmakers by sending patriot candidate lawmakers to D.C. on election day.
And until the ill-conceived 17th Amendment is repealed, patriot candidates need to win elections by a large enough margin to compensate for possible deep state ballot box fraud and associated MSM scare tactics.
“...an improved experience for customers, things like more choices and lower prices...”
From CommieCast? Not a chance in hell.
The name “net neutrality” itself is a breathless lie like all and any of leftists propaganda. With other terms cherished by the lying left, “progressive”, “liberal”, “peacefull religion”, “democratic republic”..., it is exactly the contrary to what it is supposed to mean. If we continue with the leftist corruption of language, all words will end up stinking.
BTW, anyone who could ever believe that marxist community organizer Obama would pass a law promoting more liberty and less government interference should have his head examined.
My 15 year old boy texted me in a panic. I don’t know if he saw it on one of his sites, or school students/teachers are scare mongering.
“We are going to have to start paying for YouTube, Steam, Netflix, and Hulu.”
Oh, naïve son. First of all, we are ALREADY paying for those. And let’s just hope they have a non-pornography plan (not that there’s anything wrong with that, but just not needed by us) Maybe my Internet bill will actually go down. More long term choices. Oh how the free market will grow. Instead of a socialist Internet where I have to pay for John Doe’s internet porn addiction.
It wasn’t “legislation”. It was arbitrary rules by unelected bureaucrats.
All this did was put things back to the way they had been.
Today I heard Comrade Commissioner Mignon Clyburn (Obama appointee and daughter of Congressman Jim Clyburn) denouncing the ruling. Yes, he named his daughter mignon. I wonder if she complains of being looked at like a piece of meat.
If you want to have to pay to get FR content then yes repealing NN is a good thing, other wise not so much.
Probably dry and tough, she looks overly well-done on the outside.
