The United States House of Representatives has passed H.R. 38, the national concealed carry reciprocity act.
The vote was 321 to 198 on Wednesday, 6 December. The fate of the bill now goes to the United States Senate.
The official results will show up at congress.gov in a few hours.
In the Senate, it is uncertain if enough Democrats will vote for the bill to overcome the 60 vote fillibuster barrier. Eight Democrat Senators are from states with either Shall Issue or Constitutional Carry law in their states.
Six of the Democrat Senators are from Shall Issue concealed carry states, and two are from Constitutional Carry states. They are:
Tammy Baldwin, Wisconsin, Shall Issue
Bill Nelson, Florida, Shall Issue
Jon Tester, Montana, Shall Issue
Heidi Heitkamp, North Dakota, Shall Issue
Sherrod Brown, Ohio, Shall Issue
Joe Donnelly, Indiana, Shall issue
Joe Manchin, West Virginia, Constitutional Carry
Claire McCaskill, Missouri, Constitutional Carry
The way to bet is that the above Senators will vote for the bill when they can be assured it will not pass, thus allowing themselves cover in their state when they are accused of being against the exercise of the Second Amendment.
It will likely fail in the Senate with 55 to 59 votes for it.

Am I wrong or does this mean any CCW is legal in all 50 states if senate approved and President Trump signed ???
“321 to 198”
519 votes?
In another thread were a LOT of questions brought up, including whether this would be everywhere or just to states with carry laws already. Severalpeople it is deliberately failed Bill to give the House election coverage next year.
I’d feel better about it if it was HR 45! XD
“The fate of the bill now goes to the United States Senate.”...
To the “senate”?....Da “swamp” still be filled wit lots of resistance. Pass it dammit!
Caught a Typo!
That is what happens when too quick on the publish button!
Should be as in the title, 231 to 198, not 321 to 198.
My dyslexia is showing!!
Reciprocity... between all states who have CCW in place. There will probably be a federal standard that all states with CCW will have to meet.
This Ping List is for all things pertaining to the 2nd Amendment.
FReepmail me if you want to be added to or deleted from the list.
More 2nd Amendment related articles on FR's Bang List.
The margin seemed to be too big qualitatively, like a bunch ‘rats voted for it.
So I had to look up how many ‘critters there are before becoming publicly skeptical.
This bill and the hearing protection act that covers suppressors, should have been voted on in February.gop fail.

There is no good reason for the Democrats in those eight states to vote against it, except their masters in New York, California and Illinois will hold it against them.
It’s great that this passed the House. Any idea when/if the Senate will take it up? Personally, I don’t have much hope of this passing in the Senate, too many swamp dwellers.
CCW is currently legal in all 50 states based on the 2d Amendment.
Do you lose your right to free speech by crossing an imaginary line? Why would you lose the right for CCW which “...shall not be infringed” when you cross a state line.
The premise of reciprocity works fine for driver license which are controlled by the state, but should have not context for constitutional rights.
I know. Why do red state voter elect DemocRats?

My best theory is that the national/establishment media of the Progressives works best when concentrated. They can only concentrate on so many targets at once. In an election year, only 33 Senators are up for office, and maybe 20 of those can be influenced by the national/establishment media.
There are simply too many House races for the national/establishment media to control them, but they have managed to do pretty well with Senators.

/S?
National carry does not really threaten NJ, except by setting an example that the Constitution does matter, and will be followed.
I guess that might frighten the elites there.
