Legislation is being brought to the Senate (announced Tuesday) in a cross party bid that will effectively mean the Federal government has the final say on who is and who is not allowed to buy a firearm. The measures being proposed are a clear power grab aimed at preventing citizens deemed unfit to be banned from making purchases.
Led by Senators John Cornyn and Chris Murphy are the architects and it is being supported by the likes of Dianne Feinstein and Orrin Hatch. Essentially, it involves all states submitting names to the National Instant Background Check System (NICS) to ensure that people wishing to purchase are not in violation of any other laws or practices.
But the reality is much more pernicious.

The current background system is already infringing on the 2nd amend.
“If you have to ask and be granted permission is isn’t a right anymore, it’s a privilege. And privileges can be revoked at any time for any reason (or no reason) Kiss freedom and the 2nd amendment goodbye. The current background system is already infringing on the 2nd amend.”
That’s a fact.
The privilege of the free press should be revoked for all Progressive newspapers — unless, of course, they can find some significant US legal document which somehow grants them freedom of the press as a right which shall not be infringed.
Can you spell A-B-U-S-E?
The 10th Amendment says NO!
I can spell scumbag. C-O-R-N-Y-N.
Ask anybody who has ever tried to get a carry permit in New Jersey how this will work.
Sure, people have that right, but that right does not apply in your particular case. Or anybody elses particular case.
Any congresscritter who votes in favor of that needs to be on the receiving end of the second amendment solution.
NJ now, rest of the country later. NY, NJ, MA, CT, MD, etc. have been exporting liberalism and trying to impose their values on the rest of us via their kongressional reps for as long as I can remember.
More crackpot legislation likely to die in committee. If passed which I doubt it would not pass a court challenge.
Second Amendment traitors!
Followed by a record number of boating accidents.
More IWB trolling for hits.
How long before “unfit” becomes a political decision? What would Obama do?
When the feds start to fish lakes with giant 3ft magnets, we’ll have to find another way... LOL.
Never underestimate the corruption of the judicial branch. I live under the yoke of the 9th Circuit court. Those clowns never saw a gun law that they didn’t like.
If by some miracle this legislation got passed which it won’t the court test would be to the Supremes.
No. If it’s time to lose your guns in a boating accident, or bury them, then it is time to use them.
