If you watch it....it was part of Lovitz’s shtick. It wasn’t intended for anything more than that.

He got away with his behavior for years. So why wouldn’t he think that he would keep getting away with it.
As long as the remained in his position of power where he held the careers of actors and actresses in his hands he could be confident that he could continue his behavior.
As long as he kept putting out movies that made money he was going to keep his job. If he kept his job he could keep his hobby as a sexual pervert.
Nothing unusual here. The same principle applied to Slick Willy Clinton. From the time he was Attorney General of Arkansas he was safe being a sexual predator.
Unless for some reason these perverts run afoul of the press they can linger in the shadows and do what they like.
Not a very good example. Jon Lovitz is a comedian who is supposed to behave outrageously for the sake of humor. I haven’t watched the clip to know the context but most comics say they are never “off” because everyone expects them to be funny all the time. If that was Robin Williams or Richard Pryor or Groucho Marx, they’ll stop at nothing to get a laugh and women understand that they are “fair game” for physical humor once they are on stage. That’s true of the 1920s, the 1940s, the 1970s or today. Certainly started long before Harvey Weinstein.

Sexual harassment and abuse don’t usually take place in front of a television audience. It was obviously a bit, probably agreed to in advance, and Curtis gave back as good as she got.

Well, if you are going to grab a breast, one of hers is a pretty good choice. But the right one is a bit bigger.
Your thinking is what’s wrong in the world. There are no more distinctions, context, nuance. Just everything is wrong including what happened decades ago. We are so lied up and intellectually and comedy constipated we can’t fart without some one calling for an investigation.

What is acceptable changes over time, of course. When this was filmed, a little titty squeeze might have got you slapped, but not arrested. On the other hand, back then taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem would have gotten the crap kicked out of you, no matter who you are.

This is really grasping at straws. I get that Hollywood is a cesspool, but if I had been there, I would have laughed, too. I think JLC is a big girl, and I’m sure being married to Christopher Guest, fellow cast member of Jon Lovitz, she has a sense of humour.
