Jimmy Carter is the oldest of all living ex-presidents at 93, but he is still in tune with national politics. He made his views about some of the latest pressing national issues very clear in a recent interview with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd.
On Russia meddling in the election
Dowd asked Carter: “Did the Russians purloin the election from Hillary?”
Carter said: “Rosie and I have a difference of opinion on that.” Rosie is Carter’s wife.
“I don’t think there’s any evidence that what the Russians did changed enough votes, or any votes,” Carter followed up.....

There is a lot to read in between the lines in that article. Very Damning on Hillary and Obama and the media. Pretty well sums up what we all think we know. Would like to read the maureen dowd version. It’s behind a paywall. Some kind soul private message me with it?

Wrong. George H.W. Bush is older by almost four months.
However, Carter now holds the record (having succeeded Herbert Hoover) of living longest after his term ended. Perhaps that is what the author had in mind.

I’d say the real one. Because in real life though he was very wrong about a couple of things, Jimmy loved America and wasn’t a crapweasel globalist like W. Jimmy was a good man inside and got where he did on his own. W was a coke using partyboy who rode dads coat tails after Reagans tragic choice.
The two are very opposite in character.
So that’s my take, Jimmy wasn’t as bad as we thought. And W was a globalist who wasn’t nearly as conservative as we all pretended.
In truth, W wasn’t much different than Obama except for the cultural window dressing. Their policies are nearly indistinguishable.
In a very real way, I wonder if Carter has some sympathy for Trump. Both were elected by Americans who were fully disgusted by DC and wanted an outsider.
And when Carter didn’t work out, we thank god went to Reagan who was another outsider but who was wiser, except for his choice to bring the Bush family along with him.
