The Girls creator wrote an op-ed for the New York Times in the wake of the sexual harassment allegations against Weinstein
Lena Dunham has called out men in Hollywood for their deafening silence in the wake the sexual harassment allegations made against Harvey Weinstein.
In a New York Times op-ed, the Girls creator and star claimed that while Weinstein is the most powerful man in Hollywood to be revealed as a predator and his alleged behavior is a microcosm of what has been happening in Hollywood since always and of what workplace harassment looks like for women everywhere.
A liberal-leaning industry, we have been quick to condemn Bill OReilly, Roger Ailes and, yes, the president. We do not accept sexual abuse as locker room talk,' she wrote, citing President Donald Trumps defense of his graphic, sexist comments in a 2005 Access Hollywood video. So why the deafening silence, particularly from the industrys men, when one of our own is outed as having a nasty taste for humiliating and traumatizing women?
While actors Seth Rogen and Mark Ruffalo and directors James Gunn, Scott Derrickson, and Kevin Smith have spoken out about Weinstein in recent days, much of the criticism against the former executive has been expressed by prominent women in Hollywood, including Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, Judi Dench, and Julianne Moore. Late-night comedy shows hosted by men avoided the topic on Friday, and reports surfaced that Saturday Night Live cut Weinstein references from Weekend Update and a sketch because they werent playing well in dress rehearsal. (John Oliver did take on the Weinstein allegations during Last Week Tonight on Sunday.)

If Weinstein must be denounced, then so must Bill Clinton.
Good grief, they'll let anyone/anything write one of those for the Times.
You first girlie!
How about women? They kept quiet too.
And where have you been Lena Dumbham and your suddenly holy band of leftist sista’s while Hollyweird has been pumping us full of sexual on-screen perversity for decades? Hypocrites thy name is Holly—weindos.
The fact that it's Lena doing this means the more powerful women are complicit and have sent Lena to do their dirty work. I mean it's not like Lena is some huge star, she molested her sister for crying out loud, so she has nothing to lose and she'll still get the atta girl cocktail invites.
Ack!
Geez, I’d love to denounce the scumbag, but I’d hate to even give the least possible little appearance that I did something because Lena Dunham told me to.
And I assume that she will also admonish the NY Slimes for enabling Harvey to continue on with his pathetic behaviour for more than a decade by killing a story that would have exposed his perverted antics in 2004. Let’s face it, not everybody in Hollywood and the Democrat party knew that Harvey was a serial pervert, but plenty of them did and their silence enabled Harvey to continue on victimizing woman for decades.
Guilt by association... Mr. and Mrs. Obama, the Clinton’s, the leftist news media and many others are just as guilty as Harvey is.
Someone needs to post the popcorn picture of George C.
I hereby denounce Harvey Weinstein as a liberal.
How’d I do, Lena?
She’s upset that Hollywood men regard potted plants as sexier than her!
How courageous, Lena, to “denounce” Harvey AFTER he has been fired and you now have nothing at risk personally!
Misery loves company.
Since no sane male would ever make a pass at this sweathog,
I guess she wanted some attention.
Lena is just upset that Harvey never asked her to watch him shower.
” ... calls for men to denounce Harvey Weinstein ... “
A big Gene Wilder, “HA! ( pause ) HA!” to that.
OK, he’s a disgusting ape, no matter how hyperintelligent.
... is that what she’s calling for? I don’t think most us need prompting for that sort of evaluation ... we’re out here, Lena.
Thar she blows! Hard aport, and man the harpoons!
I think we should all get together and denounce Miss Piggy Dunham for being a blight on society.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
