Finally, something substantive to move us off the Las Vegas shooting incident that nobody knows nuttin about: the Harvey Weinstein disgusting pig-man chronicles. I see that Lanny Davis and Lisa Bloom (Gloria Allred's little Eveready Bunny clone) both resigned today as more sordid stories ooze out. And seriously, how scummy do you have to be to have your own brother blow the lid on the story?
Bob Weinstein, the disgruntled co-founder of The Weinstein Company, may have been the mastermind behind an exposé of lurid sex allegations that led to his brothers humiliating downfall, the sources said.
What a charming family.
The sleeze is strong in this family
I wouldnt trust either of them but the one with the little eye definitely looks like a real perv.
Seriously, Id rather talk about Las Vegas or guns, specifically. I note that today was the day that Peggy-once-in-a-blue-moon-I-have-a-point-Noonan nailed it: Why do Americans own so many guns? Because they dont trust the protected elites to protect them.
The establishments and elites that create our political and entertainment culture have no idea how fragile it all ishow fragile it seems to people living normal, less privileged lives. That is because nothing is fragile for them. Theyre barricaded behind the things the influential have, from good neighborhoods to security alarms, doormen and gates. Theyre not dark in their imagining of the future because history has never been dark for them; its been sunshine, which they expect to continue. They sail on, oblivious to the legitimate anxieties of their countrymen who live near the edge.
Those who create our culture feel free to lecture normal Americanson news shows, on late night comedy shows. Why do they have such a propensity for violence? What is their love for guns? Why do they join the National Rifle Association? The influential grind away with their disdain for their fellow Americans, whom they seem less to want to help than to dominate: Give up your gun, bake my cake, free speech isnt free if what youre saying triggers us.
Would it help if we tried less censure and more cultural affiliation? Might it help if we started working on problems that are real? Sure. But why lower the temperature when theres such easy pleasure to be had in ridiculing your mindless and benighted countrymen?
The article is behind a paywall but dont worry, the rest of it is pretty much typical Peggy pablum. But when shes right shes right. Anyway, in summary: why do Americans own so many guns? Because the Second Amendment is premised on the fact that eventually the know-it-all, better-than-us elitists will grow tired of lecturing us and simply decide to rule by fiat. Because they only want whats best for us.
At that point theyll begin to understand why Americans own so many guns.

Because somebody has to!
"....How many is too many...." when the tyrannical government decides to come after you and confiscate those guns?
When that happens, one can never have enough guns or ammo.
Why do Rosie O'dumptruck, Okra, & Mooochell own so many forks???
Now why do you have to bring Bill Clinton into this nice conversation?
Post of the day!
Because I can’t shoot liberals with a shovel, that’s why.
Stay away from kayaks and canoes.
I used to live in Florida's Panhandle. After one particularly nasty hurricane, our rural area started having a lot of out-of-staters prowling the roads "looking for work".
I was out on the porch and noticed a ratty two-man pickup with Alabama plates SLOWLY cruising by, looking us over. After the second pass, I broke out my Marlin 336 and very obviously began checking it out - holding it up to the sky and "checking the bore" when I heard them coming again. They slowed down, then speeded up and didn't come back. Mebbe, mebbe not, but all weapons were fully loaded and kept on hand for days afterward.
>Because were allowed to own them.
Incorrect verbiage, FRiend. Sorry, but it is phrases like this that play right into their re-definition of words.
We are no more allowed a gun than we are allowed to voice our own opinion.
Both are inalienable Rights, We don’t need any permission (to be ‘allowed’) to enjoy those Rights. But govt and lawyers (but I repeat myself) can’t seem to open a Webster’s to discern the plain English of their constraint, the Constitution.
>Its a free country, ain’t it?
Now, THAT is a loaded question (pardon the pun) up for discussion...
Well. I always it hope it never comes to shooting a fellow man, but if it ever does, I need to be ready. And to have a gun you need to practice with your gun, and I always find it a pleasurable activity to go blast from time to time.
Or you could just tag along and pick up a weapon from the fallen.
Why Do SO MANY Americans Own So Many Guns?
What does that even mean?
"American's" what?
You should only use Grammer as a proper noun. If you are writing about Kelsey Grammer, or, for some reason, the small community of Grammer, Indiana, capitalize the word and spell it with an E. Remember that Kelsey Grammer was an actor on Cheers, which is also spelled with the letter E.
Why? Because that’s how the English language is written.
We. see the beauty of an ancient Drilling, the simplicity of a revolver and the intricate art work etched into custom shotguns as our art collection with a useful function.
My wife never like the idea of me getting a hand gun. Until obama got elected. She still is on the fence about getting one herself. Now I think it’s more just making up her mind to get to the range and find something she is comfortable with.
I did think it was funny when I ordered a bunch of ammo on-line for the pistol and the various other weapons in the house way back then. I brought it up to her that I had bought $xxxx amount.... and fearing the backlash.
“Oh - do you think that is enough? I would get more.”
We sent our daughter off to college. When we dropped off the tub of ammo (80 pounds???) I told the cop at the campus police that I hope this is okay. “Heh - that’s a good weekend at the range.”
None of your business.
