The government was the greatest promoter of people owning their OWN weapons. If you were in the militia, you provided your own weapon. In fact, IIRC, the government told you what you had to acquire. It was your duty!!

Why do Americans own so many guns? Because they don’t trust the protected elites to protect them.

Protect us, crap.

Who killed the Russian Kulaks? It wasn't the Chinese.

Who slaughtered the peasants during the French Revolution? Hint: It wasn't Hitler.

Who set about purging the "impure" in China in the 60s? Nobody from India.

The first enemy of the people in the U.S. is and will be the self-defined elites.

Cause we can.

Why does Jay Leno own so many cars?

Why does Jay-Z own so many sneakers?

We like to shoot. We like to hunt. We like to protect our family and property. We don’t like the government threatening us. We don’t like leftist groups threatening us.
Finally, it is enshrined in the Bill of Rights. So we can.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it, lefty!

Somehow Peggy thinks she and the other "elites" will be protected, and she is worried about the rabble and how they will fend for themselves.

The elites on the coasts, in the large cities, will be devoured by the feral rabble; Peggy thinks she will ride this out in her Connecticut getaway (not hardly).

The more people there are in a place, and the less community cohesion, the worse it will be. Elites will perish BECAUSE of what they have, not in spite of it.

I just purchased my 10th. I now have 3 semi-auto pistols, a revolver, a shotgun, two lever action rifles, a semi-auto rifle, and two high powered air rifles.

I blame Gov. Wilder. When he signed that one gun a month bill, I tried to keep up but ran out of money after about half a year ...

So we can be more self reliant and reload our own ammo.

Part of our history.

We would not be a free people without guns.
Does any other country on earth have more freedoms than the USA?

Why Do American’s Own So Many Guns?

Guns are like shoes -- different shoes for different purposes.

That's just long guns. Haven't addressed handguns. Handguns are like head gear:

Don’t neglect some solid bolt actions. For distance take a look at the 6.5 Creedmoor. And blackpowder is cheap, your reloads require no speciel equipment. (: They say 3% of gun owners own over 50% of the guns with an average of 17. So you’ve got some work to do.

The next question might be why do they ask this question? And then the next question is why do they want to take them away. Maybe because they don't trust us. Btw a healthy distrust goes both ways.

I seriously doubt that 3% number.

It is illogical given the ccw permits and family heirlooms.

Perhaps such a low number comes from effete elite city dwelling cannon fodder.

I was at a gun show in Oaks, PA yesterday ... the place was full of vendors and visitors/customers - I noticed a lot of transactions.

You always see families at the gun show (working & shopping) this time, a lot of black families. Moms and dads with 2 + kids, carrying the things we all seem to buy at a show- backpacks, ammo, beef jerky.

I have no idea how large/busy/successful this particular show will turn out to be but my take away is that the "gun enthusiast" was out on display and we are not easily labeled.

Two things:

1) If the SHTF, then those people who encourage a tyrannical government will be next in line after the tyrannical government. The French revolution frenzy didn't end with the government, but also went after all of the elites that supported and fed off the government. Our elites fear the same could happen to them.

2) I may have had enough money to continue buying arms, but didn't have enough money to continue to feed each and every one. So I stopped.

Extra credit: Who knew that my arms couldn't swim. My latest boating accident took them. Now I must buy scuba equipment and go looking for them.
