‘Monday Night Football’ Ratings Crash, As Fans Continue to Bail on the NFL and ESPN
Breitbart - Sports ^ | 10-3-2017 | Dylan Gwinn

The NFL allowed players to use the league’s national stage to disgrace the flag and the anthem. The NFL also chose to take the players side against the leader of the free world, when he rightfully called those players out. As a result, it appears the league may have done irreparable harm to its brand.

The ratings for Monday Night Football on ESPN tanked hard in Week 4.

According to Yahoo! Entertainment, “Coming off last week’s Dallas Cowboys’ 28-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals, where the ratings actually went up for MNF, last night’s game was not a victory for the Disney-owned cable giant nor the NFL in the early numbers.

(snip)

It can’t be understated how bad these numbers are for the NFL. But first, some will say that Kansas City is not a major-market team and that has something to do with the poor performance, especially coming off last week, which featured Dallas and Arizona.

That point is not without merit, however, the Chiefs entered last night as the only remaining unbeaten team in the NFL. Throughout NFL television history, an unbeaten team playing on Monday night has always equaled ratings, regardless of market size. Not to mention, the Redskins come from a top-10 TV market. Which also makes up for KC’s smaller market size.

The stand shots were from the field level at a shallow angle to make it look like it was packed.

A helicopter view betrayed their trickery.

I was so hoping the Dallas game would tank as well, but ratings went up.

I am not at all impressed with the squatting the Cowboys did against police and law enforcement, followed by standing for the national anthem.

After all, it was in Dallas where BLM took the lives of five cops.

It’s only down between 8 and 10 percent?

I was really hoping for more.

Still that’s going to make a big dent.

Yesterday at work i was called into hr for wearing a NRA tshirt.

I am now debating on whether or not i should ask to have the tv that is on in the kitchen turned off because its always on a sports channel that constantly shows highlights of the lowlifes because it offends me.

They will say that... but....... last week they said the Chief’s fans outnumbered the Chargers in LA (causing the Chargers not to have the teams introduced onto the field as usual) because KC has such a huge fan base!!!! Can’t exactly have it both ways.

“The owners are being shaken down for cash to give the anti American causes they support. Reminds me of Jesse Jackson.”

Behind every NFL stadium is a gang of politicians at the local, state, and federal level that were more than happy to spend taxpayer money for the construction of the NFL’s various stadiums.

I guess the politicization of the NFL was part of the payback plan. The NFL rakes in billions of dollars and many teams only had to sell frigging naming rights to cover their measly $20M or $30M part of the “bargain”. The rest funneled taxpayer money into the NFL so that they could become a new voice for liberal garbage.

I’m sure liberal government mouthpieces will start asking for payback from MLB after the NFL takes its beating from the public. They aren’t innocent either.

I wish someone in the media would investigate the exact amount of public money blown on stadiums over the past 20 years as well as show how much more is owed on these playgrounds. I wouldn’t be shocked to see numbers in the $20B range ... $20B for frigging sports. Amazing.

8% drop from last year’s mnf for week 4.

Hey nfl, keep up your extended Paul Wellstone Funerally-like behavior. You’ll be out of your misery soon enough.

Contract renewal time is next spring. Those players who were major factors in the current debacle may just discover that the team can do without them.

They may have to give them away if they want to avoid a lot of empty seats.

If revenues drop by 8% per year for 9 years the total revenue will be down 50%. I don’t care what business you are in, this is a formula that no business can sustain. Any well managed business would be hitting the panic button and firing people left and right starting now.

A 9% drop is actually a huge drop, their margins aren’t that big and they base their plans on revenue increasing, not decreasing. If that continues it will certainly get their attention and more importantly the attention of their advertisers.

You go into a bar and there are many TVs on. Who is watching what? Some people aren’t watching at all.

"..Yes, I would think next year will be worse unless they come out with a policy to respect the anthem.."

If I'm not mistaken they already have a policy to respect the Flag and Anthem.
It's just that the NFL, the same bunch that got all wound up over slightly under inflated footballs but routinely ignores real abuses by it's pets, selectively enforces their own rules. More equal animals and all...

Gotta keep them gladiators on TV ala "The Running Man", donchyaknow?

Just another "ass sport" like most "ball" games. Thomas Jefferson was spot on. d;^)
