After updating our system this morning found these movies on the TUBI TV CHANNEL.
CHANNEL PEAR is also working once again, showing Fox and Fox Business
Why not update your Roku and share what new items you might have found?
We have an amazon prime membership that we’ve had since early last year. We have never had cable nor broadcast television since 1997. We only get internet access via our ATT hotspot at home (we live in the sticks).
We do have a nice, large 4k set for movies on DVD and blueray, which also happens to have Amazon prime, roku, youtube, web browser, etc. built in.
A few months ago we changed our data plan. It saved us $70 a month and we effectively have unlimited data (a minor perk of living in the sticks is the “effective” part).
So, on a lark one day I clicked on Amazon Prime and found the world (almost) at my fingertips FOR FREE! We’ve been mainlining 1960’s TV shows like Petticoat Junction, as well as a LOT of good stuff I never saw before. Top Gear, GREAT classic movies as well as newer ones, all in DVD quality.
Just discovered an old TV show called My Living Doll. I had forgotten all about that. It’s so bad it’s good. :)
I feel like Rip Van Winkle.
YouTube just started offering cable and local channels for $39/month. I predict that legacy cable providers are in for a serious disruption.
We have Amazon Prime and the wife and I have really enjoyed the British series ‘Broadchurch’. The first two seasons are both excellent, the third and final season is not quite up to the first two, but is still very good. All three seasons are included with Prime membership.
.
Youtube does not yet send local channels over ROKU.
.
Inspector Morse is outstanding. A little quirky but that makes it. The follow up series — Inspector Lewis (Further cases of Morse’s sgt. is also good.)
I experimented with cutting the cable last spring, discovered there are tons of great offerings on Amazon, YouTube and Hulu. T-Mobile Cellular just started giving away free Netflix so I am set.
I do have a bare bones cable package, a couple months after cutting the cable Spectrum-low balled a better package than the streaming sources. Need that for the sports I like to watch.
Bkmrk.
Yay...Inspector Morse
I really like Endeavor which is early Morse.
John Thaw was excellent in Inspector Morse.
Another show of his was The Sweeney. First rate action.
Endeavor and DI Friday are great. Midsomer Murders have humor plus the earlier ones have John Nettles as DI Barnaby (so?)
“My Living Doll”
Bob Cummings. He was one heck of a guy. A Hugh Hefner before there was The Hugh Hefner. His “Love that Bob” is shown on the sub-stations in this area. Rosemary DeCamp and Dobie Gillis were in those as well. Will look to see if My Living Doll might be on any local schedule. Do remember the series way back when.
Having seen a few Morse shows, there’s a hunger to see more. Like the mystery, and the crime inspectors who tend to be a bit quirky are always entertaining. ie.... Murdoch Mysteries, Murder in Paradise, Monk. All three are always an unexpected treat.
Murder in Paradise is funny and well done.
Prime beats Netflix hands down.
John Nettles was Bergerac, one of my favorite British detective shows.
Shoestring was another.
They'll probably figure a way through the courts to do what the RIAA did to Napster, et al. They won't go down without a fight and they have the money to grease whatever politicians are on the take.
PLUTO CHANNEL ON ROKU
This channel is also featuring some newer movies.
The Usual Suspects
The Cube
Two Days in the Valley
Man on the Ledge,
Moonstruck
Death at a Funeral
A good many new items here if you take the time to check both their grid and their movies/TV SHOWS on the far left side of the screen.
A note regarding CHANNEL PEAR
Their sub channel for movies 24/7
is now showing “I, ROBOT” starring Will Smith.
They have in fact started to do local channels.
