So I graduated school today.
15 1/2 month program culminated this afternoon. There were times when I wanted to pull out my hair, but I made the right decision.
Out of less than 30 people - yes, less than 30 people - they chose me to give the valedictory speech, which I totally bombed. I didn't bother to even put together an outline for one. I was really nervous the whole day, and leading up to being introduced, my mind went blank.
I guess not bad for a kid that went to NYC public schools; spent 5 years in one school (yes 5 years), then two months in an adult program after moving until I finally finished high school. I did progressively worse in those 5 years, going from mediocre to a 55 average. They were some dark unsure years, but I stuck it out.
Now I have a 4.0 GPA and I still can't believe I'm finished.
That is great! Way to go no more wasted years. : )
A diploma in accounting from a little independent school in Brooklyn, NY.
As far as level, it’s not a proper college, so it’s not even an AS.
As far as less than 30, that was the graduating class size, mostly medical office specialist students. There were two of us from accounting.
Unlike a lot of my millenial generation, look for a career in my field. Because, I have a field now.
Got a degree in accounting. As for future plans, look for a career in my field, unlike my millenial generation.
Good, congratulations, well done. Yet another example of conservatives with post secondary education.
Cool! Congrats.
Much Congratulations! Revel in your accomplishment. It’s big.
Speaking of accounting, I had an epiphany the other day at work. My job is a desk job but very high stress, detail oriented, and lots of interruptions. I had just finished my “pile” of “right aways” and instead of reaching for another high stress project, found myself reaching for the checkbook to do the daily input and balancing. Until that moment I had never realized that I use numbers to calm me down.
They never lie, don’t change their mind, they’re easy to fix and very straightforward and they make me happy and serene. It really was an eyeopener.
Hurrah for you! Good job!

I feel the exact same way about numbers. Funny thing!
Wait, hold on, you’re grades are better than mine.
I hate you.
Speech, speech! Congrats on completing the requirements to fulfill your degree. Cheers to the future. Irons up
Isn’t maturity great? (Been there; done that...)
Enjoy the proud glow - it will be supplanted by life soon enough.
Good for you! The world will always need Bean Counters. ;)
Specialize in Forensic Accounting and maybe YOU will be the one that finally brings down the Clintons!
I never quite got around to finishing my business degree, but others have trusted me to run their multi-million dollar businesses for them. Go figure, LOL!
A positive attitude and a demonstrated willingness to get the job done and improve THEIR Bottom Line, goes a long way with an employer! :)
Best of luck!
Lol it’s a poorly-run half-arsed school. The 4.0 would probably be a 3.0 at a regular college. I’m being entirely objective here, too. I’m not slagging my performance. Considering how I did 16 years ago, it’s as if completely different person was there.
LOL no thanks, I like living. Few people that cross the clinton crime syndicate live.
Wonderful!!
