Morgan Freeman powers effort to raise awareness of Russia's true intentions: 'We are at war'
The Oregonian ^ | September 20, 2017 | Douglas Perry

"We have been attacked," Morgan Freeman stoically announces. "We are at war."

The Oscar-winning actor has played the president of the United States in a time of crisis (in 2008's "Deep Impact"), but this time he's speaking as himself, as a citizen.

In a video from the activist news organization ATTN:, Freeman encourages Americans of every ideological stripe to look with clear eyes at Russia's interference in the 2016 U.S. election. Russian President Vladimir Putin, he argues, wasn't just punking the U.S. He was trying to undermine the country's government and values.

"Imagine this movie script," Freeman says, and then calmly lays out Putin's rise from KGB spy for a superpower to dictator of a bedraggled former superpower. So Putin, Freeman says, "angry at the collapse of his motherland, plots a course for revenge."

His target: You and me. The U.S. intelligence community has concluded that Putin instructed his hackers and disinformation experts to exploit Americans' divisions to make them "distrust their media, their political processes, even their neighbors. And he wins."

Special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating possible collusion between Donald Trump's presidential campaign and Russia, but Freeman doesn't accuse the president of working with or even winking at the Russians. He does, however, call on Trump to finally acknowledge the seriousness of what Putin's regime did and to direct "every resource available to conduct a thorough investigation to determine exactly how this happened."

Will this video or other efforts by ATTN: and the non-partisan Committee to Investigate Russia bring Republicans and Democrats together on the issue of Russia's involvement in the 2016 election? That's unlikely. But, as always, Freeman gives a powerful, memorable performance.

Watch the video below.

You are absolutely correct, however, if Putin were to interject in American politics it would have been much more advantageous for him to have wanted Hillary Clinton (who unarguably has more of a lover affair with the Russian form of government and her past actions prove that out) than to go with an unknown as Donald Trump. Just because someone lacks experience in the political arena does not mean they will absolutely be unsuccessful. so you go with a known player who had proven in the past that she is willing to play for pay, and America be damned.

In this period of 2011/2012...Hillary was running around Europe...making speeches and hyping up ‘bringing democracy into Russia’. I would speculate that Putin simply added up social media, the State Department, and these speeches...all connecting back to some Hillary-scheme. It’s stupid, with you and I agreeing she wasn’t that smart. But everytime she opened her mouth in Europe...it just made her look connected to the whole strategy.

The U.S. intelligence community has concluded...

Have they?

Remember when they (Obama and the media) said "ALL 16 Intel agencies agreed?"

Then later the media admitted it wasn't all 16, but rather those few who had political appointees as their directors.

So Brennan, Clapper, Comey and Susan Rice basically said it was so.

Mr. Freeman, is that the "Intelligence Community" you spoke of?

If you begin with a lie or a grand exaggeration, then don't be surprised when people later yawn at your alarmist accusations!

Why Obama Really Spied on Trump

The thread is being pulled, and most of the garment will fall apart.

Maybe the stupid shit you say isn’t stupid enough to rate.

Work on it!

Morgan has mastered the art.

Oh, and the best part of Shawshank Redemption was at the end when he hanged himself.

In one of the great oddities of history, Russia is supporting the government in Syria that will permit Christians to live while the US supports those who murder Christians.

Morgan Freeman is wrong. We are at war with ourselves, our culture, and our conscience.

Meanwhile, Russia also supports those who overtly threaten to destroy Israel while the US supports Israel but also supports those who covertly threaten to destroy Israel.

Therefore, neither can be trusted. These 2 governments are duplicitous, untrustworthy, and scheming.

Our culture, meanwhile, is perverse, harmful to children, and largely given over to bread and circus. Russia’s is dark, murderous, and given over to secret crimes in dark places.

Look for both to suffer natural disaster and the erosion of wealth from endless wars.

Within each are those who find grace in the eyes of the Lord, so the final solution will not be visited. He is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Those He loves He disciplines.

I doubt Putin was that concerned with what Hillary was saying. Now let me ask you, if you had hacked the information that was hacked, would you put that out there or hold it over the head of the woman ordained to become America’s next President? I think any smart person, and Putin is certainly no dummy, would use it as leverage to seek concessions over & over again & again.

Oh, and the best part of Shawshank Redemption was at the end when he hanged himself.

hahahaha. oh MY! I thought I was ruthless.

Morgan Freeman ended up frolicking on the beach with fancy-boy Tim Robbins at the end, if I'm not mistaken. It was that old white convict that hung himself.

“Oh, and the best part of Shawshank Redemption was at the end when he hanged himself”

With Mr Susan Sarandon and Freeman “starring” I didn’t even bother watching. I enjoyed the story as written too much.

Thoroughly enjoyed REDS. The best part? Morgan Freeman dies.

The best thing about REDS 2?
No Morgan Freeman at all.

I say stupid shlt all the time and I never get quoted in the Oregonian. What's up with THAT?

It takes a special kind of stupid to get published in that paper. When it comes to stupid, that paper is an embarrassment of riches.
