Amazon is planning to build a second headquarters that could measure up to 8 million square feet — and create 50,000 jobs, many of which pay $100,000 or more.

The company is calling the second site "HQ2." It is asking cities to bid on the project, which is expected to cost $5 billion to build and operate. Amazon is prioritizing metropolitan areas with at least 1 million people.

“We expect HQ2 to be a full equal to our Seattle headquarters,” Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said in a statement. “Amazon HQ2 will bring billions of dollars in up-front and ongoing investments, and tens of thousands of high-paying jobs. We’re excited to find a second home.”

The site it ultimately chooses will also need to meet a number of requirements, including a strong labor pool, being "business friendly," and it will have to be no farther than 45 minutes from an international airport.

Wherever Amazon chooses to build HQ2, the company is stressing that it will be a full-fledged headquarters and won't operate as a satellite office....

I would vote on Detroit. You could carve out eight entire blocks in central Detroit and just make a massive structure and park around it. People would beg to move to Detroit.

Fifty thousand more Amazondroid Bureaucratbots? To do what? Execute Dr. Bezil’s scheme for world domination? Are sharks with lasers on their heads involved?

Dallas or Fort Worth would make a lot of sense based on their criteria. I threw Des Moines in there because they’re getting a lot of attention in the last few years and Iowa has a very good educational system. I don’t think it’ll be Chicago, Houston, New Orleans or Miami.

Port city, at least somewhat pro-business but not anathema to pigheaded progressive elitists, east coast since west coast is covered. International airport.

Hmmm. Tidewater Virginia? I’d say Charleston, SC but it’s too red for those @holes.

Someone has to pick all those packing peanuts from the styrofoam bushes, and strip all those sheets from the bark of the bubblewrap trees...

Ha! If Styrofoam peanut picking and bubblewrap bark stripping are involved, then Dr. Bezil will want a plantation property. You know, where us Southerners are all racist rebels who keep the darkies in their place.

“Atlanta, Dallas, maybe Charlotte.”

As long as its not Chicago. The cesspool doesn’t deserve any kind of good fortune.
