Youve probably seen many people cringe when the shoot a 12 gauge, but sometimes you find a video you just have to share. This young lady's expression when shooting a 12 gauge shotgun is priceless.
This shooter indeed is up to the task and is all smiles and laughter after the punishing shots. She certainly got the job done.
Well before we laugh too much, we must ask ourselves what would our recoil faces look like in slow motion? See the full 12 gauge recoil face video here.
Only on full auto. ;-)
Before my hunting area became a rifle area it was a shotgun only for deer. I have shot dozens of deer with a Sears 12 gauge. Don’t remember hearing or feeling the gun at those times.
Bkmk
I would not be standing on the side taking pictures!
I haven’t shot our 12 gauge yet, I’m too afraid of it. But I imagine that my face would look like that.
Perfect!
Those 00 3” and 3 1/2” magnums will shake you pretty good. Damn near rattle your brain.
No but I’m sure a few of my many hundreds of upland birds that I shot had that Oh $#!+ look on their faces.
Lean forward aggressively, hold it tight to your shoulder and you should be OK...get a little po’d; it helps lol. 12 guage is rough for anybody, but whoever let that poor woman stand there like that w/out some coaching should be slapped.
Made a decision years ago I would not let recoil bother me and just embrace it as part of the fun
tens of thousands of hot loaded heavy bullets out of 357s 44s 300s 45-70s and 12g later I find I don’t even notice it until my shoulder is bruised back and blue
really helped living in lion and bear country as my skills improved to the point where putting a full cylinder on target real fast became normal instead of uncommon or difficult
I have a 12 gauge, and I’ve shot it enough to know I can hit reliably in home-defense situations. I don’t enjoy it. It’s too loud (and I won’t be wearing hearing protection if I have to defend my home). It’s got too much kick (and I’m not sure how good my stance and grip will be under pressure). Shooting it in my home will spoil my day. It’s worth it because it will also spoil a criminal’s day, but I don’t look forward to using it. My recoil face is probably even worse than my normal face.
Note: I am much better with a handgun or a rifle, and I practice with them far more, but there is a place for the shotgun in home invasion situations.
Well my Berretta 391 is a soft shooter but our Mossberg 500 kicks like a mule. :-)
My dad gave me my Winchester model 12 when I was 12. Improved modified choke, pump gun. Literally thousands of rounds thru it. Either hand, shoulder or hip. Shot trap with it in High School. Doves, quail, pheasant, white tail deer, its has provided my family with sustenance and protection for 40 years. Its pretty much just a reflex when it goes off and it rarely misses, even after most birds are well out of range of other shooters. Dont think I ever looked like a gross armature holding a weapon (but I dont care) much past 4 or 5 (when daddy taught me to shoot.)
Yeah, but you don't get quite the sight-picture as you do when you hold it just in front of your nose ...
LOL
Yea, but that doesn’t work as good without a scope, especially one with short eye relief and no cup.
