The Norks want a nuclear weapon. I think we should give them one - free of charge!
The sad part is we are almost to the point of Now-or-never and disarming them of their nukes. Either we allow North Korea to become a legitimate Nuclear holder in the world, and hope that they only want it as a defensive deterrent like everyone else already in the club does, or we need a full scale war to disarm them, which includes a ground game that will search every cranny to find the hidden nukes. This is not good.
No. I think this ground game crap is over. They keep pushing just wipe them off the earth.
And the word “Receive” is still spelled wrong!
For God’s Sake, Fix It!
South Korea could well become an island nation before all of this is over.
North Korea is within several hundred miles of 3 of the largest metropolitan capitals in the world. You can’t just carpet bomb the place with tactical nukes. I’m not sure if that’s what you were suggesting, but I’m not sure how else you wipe 45000 square miles off the map
Yeah, I don’t get where these folks are getting this “invade North Korea” crap. This war should take 30 minutes or less.
It doesn’t need to be wiped off the map. Sub launched cruise missles could take out a sizable fraction of the artillery aimed at Seoul. Start evacuating Seoul now and in 12 hours take out a sizable fraction of that artillery and wait 5 minutes for Kim’s reaction. If he surrenders, great. If he makes ONE aggressive response turn North Korea into a gravel pit. 30 minutes and it’s over.
Alternatively, if you want to demonstrate patience, cut off ALL trade with China. Results would take longer than 30 minutes but I suspect China would invade North Korea and end this within the week.
Last night there was a Chinese article that was surprising. They seemed to be acknowledging that North Korea exists because of mistake they made 70 years ago “that foolishly cost hundreds of thousands of Chinese soldiers”. If this is true, the Chinese may be about to step up and end this puppet regime after all these decades.
In any case, the stalemate on the Korean Peninsula is over soon, one way or another.
...and they have elected to receive...
I before E except after C
I before E except after C
So we should let them bomb Los Angeles or New York because you are worried about 3 population centers hundreds of miles away?
Got it, other countries first, America last.
That was the point of my first post. The time to act militarily is almost passing. Not quite. We either go to a full out war and make sure we remove every last nuclear warhead they have which isn’t something you can do with air strikes and cruise missiles alone... as well as (obviously) wipe out all of their enrichment facilities
... or we just cross our fingers and hope they’re not crazy and wont ever use them. But they are almost to the point where they can, which means, take them out, or hope they want defense/deterrence only.
Eh. It’s easy to call for the jingoistic immolation of millions from a keyboard thousands of miles away.
IKR
Not to mention dumping intense levels of fallout on Seoul and Tokyo
Right. And by the time we start, the Nork's will have wiped out Seoul and about 10,000,000 people living within 30 miles of it in less than three minutes having missile swarm capabilities less than 40 miles away.
No matter how one looks at it, this isn't going to end well for millions of people.
The ensuing panic might kill more people than the fallout. Then we get to feed what’s left of South Korea for a few generations. Great plan.
Here’s hoping that CNN on air talent are the first victims of this panic.
“The Norks want a nuclear weapon. I think we should give them one - free of charge!”
We certainly don’t want to be selfish.....
