The U.S. should NEVER put itself in that position. The Brits sent their civilian boaters to save them. Destroyers and most planes were left behind to 'save England.'
Make sure the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is always filled. Get the hell out of the Middle East with no more immigrints from that region. The Brits should get out of the Falklands. They have bigger fish to fry. Maybe we should al store food like the Mormons.
My history teacher, retired military, said Hitler should have bombed them all on the beach. Cost him the war.

Hitler saw the Brits as cousins and really didn’t want to fight them.
He could have ended it all, right there, had he choosen.
He stayed his hand and later paid for it.

There are so many decisions that “cost him the war” it’s really difficult to find just one.
Invading Russia cost Hitler the war, just as it cost Napoleon.

But if Hitler wasn’t Hitler, he wouldn’t have started the war at all. His general staff was dead against invading France.
I thought that movie was a major disappointment. Time jumps, central characters were cowards, and lousy dialogue. No plot. Wasted my money.
Hitler lost the war because we got in.
Period. We could have dropped the first nuclear bomb on him, as well.

I’ll defer to your teacher but a massacre may have inflamed US public opinion (which was pretty neutral then) against Germany.
Russia won the war against Germany. Would have won it without us. Creating an Eastern Front lost Hitler the war.
Invading Russia would have been fine if he hadn’t had to bail Italy out of Greece, that delayed the Russian invasion by a few week. If that invasion starts earlier Moscow falls.
A wondeful film, we enjoyed it and will be buying a dvd. Very well done by all.
Some of the boats in the movie were used for the evacuation. They are flying a flag which can only be flown by boats which participated in the battle.
Btw, Churchill ordered the Navy to pick up the French on the beach after the English had been evacuated and they were able to get 26,000 to England (about half ) as the defensive lines collapsed.

Huge disappointment. The editing was just awful,couldn’t understand what little dialogue there was and if you went into the film knowing nothing about Dunkirk you came out knowing no more.
If only YOU could have been in charge of that war.........That armchair must be pretty warn out.......LOL!
Nobody was a coward, the time jumps linked at the emotional beats, the dialog was fine, and the plot was history. Sorry you couldn’t handle a movie that required you to actually use your brain. Stick to Minions.
Neither side wanted to over commit their air force, they knew they needed it later.
Just got home. I too was someshat disappointed. The dog fight scenes were great. That poor kid kept getting on ships that were sunk. From that poiht of view it got repetetive

sell it off gradually over 7 years
Hitler made an even greater mistake when he invaded Russia.
