Not just for women but preferred by women

Want to know which handguns women choose when they're looking for a self-defense weapon? According to NSSF (National Shooting Sports Foundation) these are the five of the most popular handguns purchased by women for their size, weight, fit and ease of use.

Whether for concealed carry or the bedside table drawer, all of these are great, reliable options that you can count on in case of emergency.

Would you go with one of these picks? What else would you add? See the rest of the handguns for women here.

Surprised not to see the Shield on the list. My wife loves her’s.

What’s your warm period model? I use a Kimber Ultra Carry II in the hot months and a Glock 20 10MM in coat weather.

Out of the 3 the Lady Smith .38 is the only one I would suggest. In a semi auto you cannot beat the Springfield Armory XDS.

S and W Bodygard trigger pull is so high that it cannot be shot by my wife. I’ve sent it to the factory a couple of times and they said that is the way it is supposed to be.

Totally unsable as a result.

Her 380 Kimber Stainless Steel Micro however, that is a fun and accurate gun to shoot.

.40S&W M&P Shield at home

This. The M&P 40C is really nice, as well.

Mrs. L is partial to the Springfield XDS in .45.

I am too.

The Glock 19 is a great choice if it is going to sit on a nightstand. However, the Glock 19, with its light trigger pull and lack of a secondary safety, is one of the worst choices for a woman if she plans to carry it concealed in a purse or handbag with a round in the chamber.

I know I will catch some flak for my summer gun.....but it’s lightweight and incredibly reliable and accurate....

It’s a Taraus Slim 709 in 9mm.....can wear it under light clothes and doesn’t imprint or become uncomfortable.....

I’m trying to find an inexpensive laser sight for it but they’re in the hundreds of dollars; I found one on Amazon that fits my Ruger 22/45 MkIII target pistol for $18 but it won’t fit my S&W.

In FL you gotta be sure the window is rolled down or it may not be deemed as sell defense, and not many people drive with the windows open this time of year. Though actually I’ve been having problems with the blower motor switch on my Cobalt burning out because of a glitch in the AC wiring. A common problem with some GM cars from those years. Of course when I’m driving the 64 the top is down most of the time so any dumbass wants to start shiite,I PITY THE FOOL!

“Para Ordnance makes a .45 and 9MM carry model, based on the 1911, but with a ‘light double action’ trigger.”

I had one in .45. It had the sweetest out of the box trigger that I’ve ever pulled. Unfortunately, it was a jam-o-matic. Even two trips back to Para couldn’t fix it. Had to get rid of it.

The Ruger LCR should be on that list. My wife is small, and has a hard time racking slides on some semi-autos, so the revolver is the bomb for her. We got the .357 and she can put .38s in there - it weighs a couple ounces more, so it helps with recoil.

No. There is a loading problem.

I switched to Safari. When I was logged out, it appeared to load okay. However, after I logged into the system, the load stuck after about eight and only gave the header on the last item. Cannot scroll down through the forum.

Something is whacky.
