There are good reasons not to confine the discussion to academic journals.
In the latest issue of National Review, John McWhorter has a challenging and thought-provoking essay about the topic of race and IQ — specifically, about whether that topic should even be up for discussion in liberal-arts classrooms and in the media, as opposed to in scientific journals. He suggests not, as there is nothing to gain from discussing it.
I read McWhorter’s essay with special interest because I have violated the norm he proposes. I have written about race and IQ on numerous occasions — and for a general audience, as I am not even a specialist myself. See, for example, my 2013 essay in this space about Jason Richwine’s departure from the Heritage Foundation, as well as my RealClear reviews of Nicholas Wade’s A Troublesome Inheritance and Richard J. Herrnstein and Charles Murray’s The Bell Curve (on its 20th anniversary).
In light of McWhorter’s essay, I thought it would be worth explaining how I became interested in this topic and why I participate in public discussions of it.....

You can do a yahoo search for “average IO by country” and get much data. The USA is not as high as you think, but we have a high population that is originally from countries with very low scores.

A little liberal tyro walked up to a mature Black Man who was espousing his Christian beliefs, and told him that he, the Black Man - as someone of African Descent - should be a Muslim! The little idiot actually had the effrontery to say to the man that, “Given your origins, THAT should be your religion!”
It was one of the most idiotic things I’d ever been ‘privileged’ to see on television. The little jerk knew nothing about the history of Islam in Africa; but figured that he was somehow intellectually ‘In Charge’ of the Black gentleman’s spiritual life - LOL!
It was a long time ago, and I can’t recall the event or which channel I saw it on. But it was an amazing example of liberal DISrespect and patronization toward Black folks; and an attitude on the part of so-called ‘Liberals’ that I often witness.

In fact, the evidence is overwhelming that intelligence is a genetic trait, as verified by huge numbers of scientific studies. I do not believe that this is disputed by anyone who is not a scientist in this field. We also learn that education and nutrition only result in minor improvements.

An unspoken crime is selective breeding during the days of slavery. Slaves were selectively breed to be the best field workers. It was a horrible crime. This did effect the Bell Curve. It was an ugly sin but it is reality.
However the disparity between blacks and whites is a function of government. The insane social programs do not lift the lower class, actually more whites than blacks but on a percentage basis relative to population much more blacks than whites. These insane social programs condemn the lower class to a life in perpetuity to be lower class.
My dearest friend is from Nigeria but raised in the United States. She is a pharmacist as I. She is one seriously smart lady. If I were a patient in my former hospital I would want her to review and consult on my drug therapy. I would be in good hands with her.
I have seen retarded people with wisdom ant high IQ types that are fools. IQ ain’t all its cracked up to be.
As to IQ it is different for different races generally.

It’s not a matter of feeling it’s a matter of fact... and reality, in both cases. The evidence is all around. All it takes is opening your eyes and some intellectual honesty.
Despite the fact that the social Marxists are wrong, that doesn't mean your assertion is necessarily true regarding maintaining "the same level of civilization". That's speculation.
The reason for black crime and poverty is average IQ, not oppression.

I don’t that is true, that Asians are superior to Whites intellectually. There are many kind of “smarts.” I agree they are amazing. They are wonderful at what they do, and my people are wonderful at what we do. I wouldn’t want to live in an asian civilization. I prefer, and most of the planet prefers living in White European societies. We are wonderful civilization builders and wonderful hosts. We can be taken advantage of, though, and that is not smart.
Not necessarily. East Asians seem to have a slightly higher than average IQ, but lower numbers of geniuses as compared to Europeans. It seems they tend towards sameness even in IQ scores.
Well, if we're going to go there, I'd say what advantage white people have would be that whites the great generalists, not necessarily the best at any one thing but quite capable of being pretty darned good at most with minimal actual disadvantages overall. Sure, there are people who as a group score higher on IQ testing, not just Asians but Ashkenazi Jews as well. But, we score as a group right at average with a notable number of geniuses so we're not exactly morons.
