Last week in the dead of night I loaded up my grab and go gear and waited for the appropriate time after night had set in. After spending several hours ensuring nobody was watching I hit the road. I kept to the highways playing the tourist and made my way to the border. As it approached I made sure my speed was kept to the legal limit and there was no reason for the authorities to pull me over. My heart was beating a bit harder than normal as I crossed into a free state and only after I saw that sign "welcome to Arizona" did I begin to relax.
I stopped for the night and slept in a run down hotel not attracting attention and set off again first hung in the morning.
The process was repeated at the New Mexico border and again I stopped along the northern route to rest.
Finally in the morning of the third day did I cross into the freedom of my new home state Texas. Yes, I successfully escaped the Democratic People's Republic of Kalifornia and am now a Texas resident.
I am now looking forward to the removal of a certain bullet button from a tool that I brought with me. I can honestly say that the feeling of freedom is quite special!
There IS life east of Interstate 5.

Speaking of, bubblehead.....where were you stationed? I was at Pearl Subase from 82-86. Snipe here but I (carelessly, I might add) a Twigit. I saw some references to Austal in a quick perusal of your posts. Who you with?
