Mark Zuckerberg: Government should give everyone a guaranteed minimum income without work
Canada Free Press ^ | 05/26/17 | Dan Calabrese

Zuckerberg doesn't seem to understand that handing out cash is not the same thing as creating wealth

He is not the first to tout this idea. In fact, it’s been a favorite of Bernie Bro types for a while now. But it’s one thing when some lefty chucklehead on Facebook is pushing the idea of a universal, guaranteed minimum income for everyone - provided by the government with no work requirement whatsoever. It’s another thing when one of the richest and most influential people in the world signs on.

Some will suggest this is a signal Zuckerberg wants to run for office. I really don’t care one way or the other about that. I’d rather focus on merits (or lack thereof) of the idea itself, because it says a lot about the way kings of the technology sector (not to mention certain other industries) have taken to thinking.

“guaranteed minimum income without work”

Maybe he wants for others what he has for himself. He can share it.

You first. Oh, and tear down your wall. Also, how much extra did he add to his taxes as a contribution to the US treasury?
There is no restriction on his donations to the government.

It won’t be long before global government will force billions people to live and to work in squalid communes.

While the Zucks of the world live in walled mansions.

pretty sure that would mean that $15 per hour would be the new $0 per hour. cost of living goes up by that much, and the only one who truly benefits from this idiotic smoke and mirrors, is the government, who collect more in taxes.

Isn’t this the guy who was building a big fence around his 300 acre Hawaii estate?

Make 700-acres on Kauai a sanctuary.
The site already has a wall.

Milton Friedman discussed the possibility of a negative income tax. A minimum amount paid by the government to those not working as an alternative to the myriad of transfer payments.

I think we already have that for some people. I saw some of those guaranteed income guys just yesterday standing around in a yard in the middle of the afternoon drinking from those big cans of malt liquor.

If I can get this and my social security, I’ll retire as soon as this is in place.

The way we ended up with social security is because FDR thought he’d end up in a primary against a very popular socialist whose platform was universal minimum income. FDR was, allegedly, against the idea of Social Security, but he had to counter his would-be political contender. Thus, we ended up with social security. But, to avoid issues with the 666-Mark-Of-The-Beast crowd, they wrote into the SS law that it couldn’t be used for identification purposes. All though school in the sixties and seventies, that SS number was the number under which all my records were filed. Oh, and they would never tax SS income as income...lied about that one too. This raises the question, how do you know when a politician is lying? (It answers itself, really.)
