While firing 100 sports-related employees, ESPN runs 'Five poets on the new feminism'

Read these feminist poems while you clean out your desk!

On Monday, ESPN announced it would be firing a gaggle of writers, on-air talent, and radio personalities. As subscribers and ratings decline, the former sports network has been forced (repeatedly) to trim its stable of on-air talent, writers, and radio personalities. Initially they claimed 40-50 jobs would get the axe. Yesterday, we learned ESPN’s employee bloodbath would involve over 100 people.

Since they’ve announced no plans to alter their programming - other than to implement some kind of streaming service - we can only conclude that this is a temporary solution. Without major reconfiguration, they’ll probably need to do this again in a few years.

Ah yes, sports is overly testosterone driven according to feminazis and other liberal ilk, so they must invade all perceived male shrines and faggify everything or read anti-male poetry to “smash the patriarchy.”

LOL, my brain is misinterpreting a lot of things I have read today, and I thought the line said: "...Since they’ve announced no plans to alter their programming - other than to implement some kind of streaming steaming service..."

That sounds about right, though!

Won’t be long that ESPN will be going the way of other channels. It will no longer being doing sports, but segments and helpful hints on how to knit vagina hats or pedophile gardening tips. But no surprise here...their parent company is run by subversives.

Much like the History Channel is now the UFO and Junkyard channel. History is history on the History Channel. And sports will be history on ESPN.

I will continue NOT watching ESPN. Never have, never will - but I appreciate the brief updates here on FR what trash they are.

If you have time for things like ESPN, your priorities are out of alignment. Spend more time with your spouse, your kids, friends, or elderly relatives, or exercising your own body, your career, or reading the Federalist Papers - anything but wasting time on bread and media circuses.

Since I never watched ESPN, I’ll just boycott it in spirit.

What won’t change is they will still extort $7 a month if you want to keep cable TV. That is what is keeping me, along with their leftist slant, from having any sympathy for those who lost their jobs yesterday.

Let’s see....

For the last 6 decades at least, guys have focused on sports as an area of common interest, with teasing decent, and no risk of the perils of politics and religion.

....and now.....

Well, I guess we don't have to worry about ESPN hiring Rachael Maddow or anyone from The View!

I think the answer to their problems is clear....

They need to focus more on social issues, women and gay rights. That will definitely attract more viewers. If at first it doesn’t work they need to do it EVEN MORE until it does work.

“In honor of National Poetry month, espnW asked five poets to reflect on resistance, redefining feminism and the movement.”

1. My Struggle with Feminism is Black, by DéLana R.A. Dameron

2. Revolution, by Dr. DaMaris Hill”

Revolution ain’t a date in a history book

It’s an ivy that thorns

A lily that pricks. It stings

Like the splash of a copper colored girl

running in a skinned knee

ruining her Easter dress

Revolution is the taste of honey

and the revenge of the hive,

there is never enough time to watch

the swarms die. Revolution ain’t got sh—

to do with facts. It is all faith!”

Dr. DaMaris B. Hill is an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing and African American and Africana Studies at the University of Kentucky. Her scholarly research is interdisciplinary and examines the intersections between artistic criticisms, cultural studies, and digital humanities.”

If ESPN ratings keep going down, not only does this cost ESPN President John Skipper his job, but it could likely threaten Disney CEO Robert Iger's job at the company, too.

Especially given Disney spent multiple billions of dollars buying Pixar, Marvel Entertainment and Lucasfilm in the past 15 years.

Maybe ESPN should hire Brucey Jenner as their main on air talent.

The TV at work that is in my direct line of sight is normally always on ESPN (unless there are tornadoes in the area or some interesting breaking news) due to the fact that none of us can stand to watch the financial networks or the cable news networks. The entire day seems to be filled with chicks wearing Fox News dresses on talk shows where they are discussing SJ issues or discussing with some unidentified African American dudes who dissed who on Twitter. It is like the View with NBA highlights. I almost crapped myself when I looked up a couple of weeks ago in the afternoon and there was an actual baseball game on. Outside of the Masters, that was the only actual competitive sports event that I have seen on there in months. My theory is that they are trying to appeal to all of the stay at home moms and unemployed lefties during the day.
I will state unequivocally as an upper middle class white guy in his early 50’s that I cannot stand female hosts and or reporterettes on any kind of sports talk or highlight show or game broadcast (other than Dotty Pepper on golf who I don’t mind). If I tune into the 11am Big Ten game on ESPN and hear Beth Mowery, the volume is automatically muted. If that makes me a big mean chauvinist/mysoginist or whatever, so be it. I like what I like. I simply have no interest in hearing some chickie who has never been the subject of a blind side hit or clothesline block discuss football. That is my preference and obviously it is not in style based on almost all of the sports shows on all of the sports networks which feature at least one woman in the standard short leg showing dress trying to inform me about the merits of the 3-4 defense. There are lots of dudes in my demographic group with plenty of disposable cash that feel the same as I do. (a little truth for the advertisers there)

That is my rant. YMMV.

I’m glad that there is at least one more person who thinks along the same lines.

The spouse is addicted to sports TV and the rest but she can have it as long as I don’t have to pay the cable bill.

“My theory is that they are trying to appeal to all of the stay at home moms and unemployed lefties during the day.”

Naaa...what they’re trying to do is inundate every venue possible with their subversive leftist crap to sell the BS that “everyone thinks this way”—everyone thinks this way, you should too—or else. Because this is all you hear/see on national media.

And the individual is “alone” and “segregated” in his/her beliefs (because you’re bombarded by all media outlets regardless of content)—thus deviate of society and even dangerous. It’s an old commie ruse—separate the individual with collectivism BS. And if you refuse to submit, they haul you off to a “get your mind right love facility”.

They don’t give a crap about their market demographics or staying true to their market mission (like sports). That’s merely the ‘smoke screen’. Their purpose is to sell their notion of Valhalla...as per the mandates of their globalist gods. Mickey Mouse not only wants to eat your lunch but make you the main menu.
