Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (PRWEB) March 14, 2017 - Alkane Truck Company, the South Carolina-based assembler of alternative fuel vehicles, has announced it will establish more than a dozen assembly facilities in the USA, Canada and Mexico over the next 36 months. Alkane is coordinating with economic development offices across North America to identify potential business partners interested in becoming contract assemblers.
We will provide training for their employees and deliver all components required to assemble Alkane vehicles for direct shipment to our existing and ever-expanding dealership network," says Bob Smith, CEO of Alkane Truck Company. "These business partners will own 100% of their associated assembly facility, so profits generated would be entirely their own; and as owners, they'll also be the recipients of any state and local incentives offered to new business startups in their respective regions."
For an initial licensing fee and a nominal monthly charge, each new owner/operator will be entitled to use the Alkane brand name, Alkane's EPA, CARB, and DOT certificates as well as the company's supply chain to assemble and deliver its Class 7 and 8 trucks and the humvee-style Dominator. Assembly facilities will be required to pay for and maintain an inventory of parts while Alkane will provide ongoing support and replacement parts.
Local commerce and economic development officials are also assisting Alkane in the search for select sites in areas safe for employees, equipment and inventory. "Proximity to shipping ports, transportation hubs and easy highway access would be ideal," according to Mr Smith. "We are looking for a facility of around 20,000 sq ft under roof with about 30,000 sq ft outside staging area--and at least one truck-level dock for use loading and unloading with a forklift."
This is the first time Alkane Truck Company has offered its streamlined business model to independent entrepreneurs. Already notable in the industry for eliminating the extraordinary costs involved in the setup of a standard manufacturing operation, Alkane is rolling out this expansion plan to accelerate its production timeline in response to orders from its dealership network.
"Not a 'franchise' agreement but rather a simple contract, this is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in vehicle assembly to get into business with very little risk," says Smith. He added, "Bringing an assembly facility into a community can have an incalculable economic impact--improving the quality of life of local residents, flooding cash into struggling existing companies and paving the way for new startups in ancillary businesses. These will be high-paying, skilled jobs."
This announcement comes at the same time as the companys launch of a new crowdinvesting campaign on equity crowdfunding platform StartEngine, inviting millions across the US--regardless of income level--to join the company in its vision of providing clean-burning alternative fuel vehicles to the trucking and off-road market, create American jobs and promote energy independence. There’s a great American name!
No I am not tired of winning, a gaseous lost cost and cleaner than diesel fuel work vehicle class is coming and would have never happened under Obama no one wanted to do shit since they never knew when they'd be under the microscope. They must feel the waters fine again, the business of doing business in America is back.
Best Vote I ever cast, Thank You President Trump.
Ford used a somewhat similar, distributed assembly model very early on. Being in NC, I’m surprised to be completely unfamiliar with this company or any of its vehicles, had to look it up.
The Dominator SUV/Pickup is very interesting with a polyurea coating that makes the vehicle practically impervious to salt, which should appeal to beach drivers, fishermen and the like. Very Hummer-esque but the wheels need some attention. As it stands they give it a vaguely UTV look. A bunch of engine options from gas to diesel to propane, Hank Hill would approve.
Looks like they have changed their business model. The 'alternative fuel' truck company is now offering gasoline as an alternative fuel for their green trucks. And they apparently don't even make the trucks. They import them from China without engines, drop in an engine, and then upgrade them to US safety standards. http://www.dieselnews.com.au/chinese-gas-powered-gliders/ http://www.greenfleetmagazine.com/channel/natural-gas/news/story/2016/07/alkane-truck-adds-gasoline-option.aspx
I ran across a fellow that was going to get rich importing Chinese tractors and putting his brand name on them. As I recall, flimsy front axles were the big killer for him.
I think I’ll let someone else road test these Chinese trucks.
If it’s cheap enough and not total junk I think they have carved a nice niche myself. Assembled in USA with domestic and foreign components, could be worse.
Propane for automotive fuel? What a concept!
Something we did 50 or 60 years ago. Propane fueled tractors dot the landscape in scrap yards. You couldn’t give them away. There was a time when every pick up in Oklahoma had a propane tank in the back. The oil looked like it had never been used when you changed it.
Their class 7 & 8 cabs have a very Euro look to them, much like a DAF.
LNG is the fuel of the future both for domestic use, in cars and power plants, and for export shipment. What Saudi is to crude oil, the US can become to LNG.
I’ll wait until the ChiComs figure out quality control.
I remember when Made in Japan meant junk. Then Korea, then Taiwan. They all finally figured out quality control. China is getting there, but it isn’t there yet. Then the junk will need to come from Vietnam, or Burma, or some African hell hole.
Interesting...I am going to look into the company to see if it a public company.
Already in serious use for urban fleet vehicles, buses, delivery trucks, and the like. Refueling infrastructure is one of the issues for wider use.
Actually, T Boone Pickens and Pilot established natural gas fuel stations on interstate hiways to accommodate the big rigs made for the fuel several years back
The Alkane Dominator price tag will fall on the low side of the spread between the Hummer H1 and H2 prices. Although the final MSRP has not been dialed in, the vehicle in its base configuration is expected to be in the $80K range. Considering the H1 started at around $40K in 1992 and rose to $120K+ by 2006, and the H2 was at $63K in 2009, the price of the Alkane Dominator is an affordable re-entry point for this rugged work horse. I love that they used the organic chemistry name for a saturated, single bond hydrocarbon: alkane.
IMHO rather than busting the big 3's ( or 7 depending upon which auto analyst is describing the industry ) cohones about emissions, I think greater gains in clean air can be had with industrial engines ( off road ) such as a pump, a driveway tamper when they are prepping for concrete or asphalt or even a weedwacker by redesigning them to run on Propane or Natural Gas. EFI and new tankage systems would have to be developed, but the cost of the fuel with the fracking revolution and the cleaner air might make it a win win for the contractors ( and individuals ) that buy these devices.
