‘This is Nixon/Watergate’: Trump Accuses Obama Of Wire Tapping Trump Tower Before Election

President Trump exploded on Twitter early Saturday morning, blasting former President Barack Obama for allegedly wire tapping his phones before the election.

“Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!” he declared.

“Is it legal for a sitting President to be ‘wire tapping’ a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!” he added.

Trump has the authority to declassify almost any classified material, and could substantiate his accusations if he wanted to.

The Saturday-morning Twitter storm was striking as Trump and Obama had largely appeared to paper over their differences — at least publicly — since the election.

Actually if obama or his minions got some corrupt leftists judge to OK it... it’s also possible it is legal or obama claims national security. Crazy as it sounds obama could be covered.

Incidentally, I also said this in my reply #90:

This revelation has the potential to alter public perception of the Trump presidency on a scale that it changed with the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan.

It seems to me that Trump has revolutionized the way a president communicates with the people. His exploitation of twitter has been brilliant.

My observation comes from the contents of the these tweets, the absence of specifics, the absence of a charge of specific impropriety but the insistence that we have "Watergate" or "McCarthyism."

It now appears that a FISA warrant was obtained and that is an entirely different matter than naked surveillance. Was the second application for the FISA warrant, which was apparently granted, legitimate? Is this the proper question even to be asked? What did Obama know and when did he know it? These questions are raised by these tweets but they appear that the answers could be a lawful wiretap based on substantial evidence or it could be dirty tricks.

If it is not dirty tricks, Trump will not appear in the best light when the facts are compared to the broad allegations in the tweets. If the eavesdropping was lawful, does that put different cast on the matter than alleged by Trump when he says "McCarthyism" or "Watergate?"

There is a general procedure in auditing requiring people with authority to take vacations, so they are not in a position to cover their tracks. Presidents leave Washington if they have nothing to hide. They stick around to put out fires if they are guilty. Expect Obama and his stooges to hang around.

Let me assure you. This is no tweet war after this morning. This is the greatest political scandal in our countries history. There will be a total melt down over the next 3 days. All the dirty tricks aside the Democrats main goal is to establish a special prosecutor. All of this going on right now is to establish a special prosecutor.

As they succeeded in getting recusal out of Sessions they are now in charge as the DOJ other than Sessions is still all Barak Obama appointees, so the special prosecutor will be appointed by them, and of course their s.p. will be one of them. At that point it’s all over.

Actually, I’m beginning to agree - the governing by Twitter method seemed like a waste of time, but obviously, it works. I didn’t like his wasting tweets on rants about TV commentators or has-been actresses, but now he seems to have moved into a strategic use of them that is very effective.

I don’t know if he knew anything about Obama’s surveillance activities before the attack on Sessions, but if he didn’t know about it and hadn’t planned his response, he’s done a fantastic job of find out about this and turning the attack around on the Dems. The best defense - especially when there’s nothing wrong to hide or defend and you’re just defending yourself - is a good offense, and I’m seeing that Trump is very quick on his feet and gets out there right away.
