Mom-and-pop shops aren't the only ones closing their doors to support immigrants as part of the "A Day Without Immigrants" protests. Several McDonald's locations have also shuttered for the day.
The nationwide event is a combination of a protest and a strike. It is in response to President Donald Trump's immigration agenda, which has included a pledge to build a wall along the Mexican border and enact a travel ban on citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries.
"The purpose of the protest is to show just how disruptive immigration changes by the government could impact consumers' everyday life," Darren Tristano, president of Technomic, told CNBC. "For McDonald's franchisees and company stores, it is likely best to close the restaurant versus trying to manage the restaurant with an inadequate service staff. Although many customers will see this is an inconvenience, many will understand."
McDonald's first quarter sales could be affected by these closures, as it already faces difficult comparisons with first quarter 2016, which benefited from an extra day on Feb. 29. Same-store sales were up 5.4 percent that quarter, fueled by value deals and all-day breakfast....

I have been celebrating a day without McDonanld’s for a couple of years now. Their food is absolutely disgusting.
I wonder if this will backfire by showing just how widespread lawbreaking is going on.
Hollywood celebs and 1%’ers will actually have to make “special” arrangements from 3:00 - 5:30 PM, and then spend an hour or two with their own children in the evening before sending them off to bed. A few people in Southern CA will need to turn on their own sprinklers. Nobody else will even notice.
I haven’t ate there in over 20 years. I don’t like their either. It’s gross.

That’s even worse for McDonald’s if they can’t stay open without a bunch of illegal immigrants. Those franchise owners need to be investigated.

McDonalds is part of cheap labor express. They want to exploit illegal immigrants. I have not been to a McDonalds since they pushed Obamacare, and then asked to be EXEMPT from Obamacare after they pushed for it.

Now we have fake issues to go with the fake news. Nobody’s proposing to deport all immigrants. So they’re demonstrating what things would be like if an administration did something it’s not proposing to do.
Next thing you know we’ll have a demonstration against requiring bus passengers to carry their buses.
The only effect i saw was traffic was a bit lighter going into work.
And apparently the concept of strawmen isn’t taught in J School any more.

They clearly lose if it is about law and order. Have more support if it is about all immigrants, i.e. xenophobia.
They lose if it is about pedophile Boy Scout troop leaders and “transgendered” freaks using the women’s restroom with wives and daughters. So it becomes all about “tolerance” and “rights” instead.
Statist brainwashing of the young isn’t popular so it becomes “Common Core education for the children.”
