About that 84 Lumber commercial celebrating illegal aliens . . .
Canada Free Press ^ | 02/07/17 | Dan Calabrese

In the finest Orwellian language, they claim people who sneak across the border are on a "migrant journey toward becoming legal American citizens."

Why would a lumber company get political in a Super Bowl ad? Furthermore, why would it stake out a position - celebrating illegal immigration - that cheerleads for lawbreaking?

Since the ad is obviously a PR move and not designed in any way to sell lumber, it has to have one of two motives behind it: Either the company thinks the public is generally in favor of people sneaking across the border and entering the country illegally, or the company wants to get on the right side of the most militant Trump-haters in order to guard against said Trump-haters making a target of them.

Why would a lumber company get political in a Super Bowl ad?

Because they want to go out of business?

They deleted the scenes of them buying forged Social Security cards ...

And also the ones mowing Pelosi's lawn.

Another possibility ... 84 Lumber is in financial distress, and they want to blame their fading fortunes on "right-wing Americans" who stop doing business with them.

They were on the bring of bankruptcy a few years ago, and ended up closing a bunch of locations just to stay in business.

They also skipped wading through the tons of garbage at lay up points on the smuggling trails, activities at the “rape tree”, and being kidnapped and held for ransom in a single wide with 120 other lucky illegals.

I have never shopped at 84 Lumber, but for sure, NOW I NEVER will do so.

I shop at Lowe’s—for a number of reasons. Stores are clean—ALL the personnel are EAGER to help you, even to the point of being willing to ORDER something for you they might not carry—they have a great supply of items-—and they sponsor Jimmie Johnson in NASCAR.

I used to shop at Home Depot-—BUT—in So Calif, they started erecting ‘shelters’ for the ILLEGALS who would hang around the parking lots trying to find cash day work. As a female, I didn’t app0reciate the bombardment those illegals represented when they swarmed me. I figure that Home Depot is part of the problem-—NOT part of the solution.

I plan on selling where I am in N Nevada, and moving to So Missouri, so I sure am hoping that there is Lowe’s near where I end up.

Wrong! It is about customers!

Mexican immigrants are the single largest demographic group that buys lumber and building material.
They buy it as small business owners of construction companies.
They buy it as the go-fer employees of non-Mexican owned construction companies.
They buy it for their own use, and the use of their extended network of friends and family.
They are the #1 flipper of houses that need repair before flipping. They are the #1 buyer of houses needing repair, whether flipped, rented or owner-family occupied.

Mexican has a higher percentage of males of construction worker age than other demographic. Their immigration is skewed to males the age of construction workers.

Of course, it is also about posturing so they won’t get attacked for OSHA violations and it is also about the ideology of the owners and ad agency.

This ad gave them more free advertising than they ever had in their entire existence”””

FREE? Ads at Super Bowl cost $5 million per 30 seconds. If they spent $15 million, that is a great amount of money & they may not have the profits in 2017 tgo offset this cost.

This CEO is a woman? She hates Trump? WHY?

Trump can bring more jobs—bring more money for people to build or remodel a house—and do all the other maintenance items home owning entails.

She must have the world’s WORST case of PMS—and she is putting all her employees jobs at risk with her attitude, along with all her stock holders. She needs to be voted out of control, IMO.

Lowe’s will be busy vetting them in the future for hiring there.

Just a second, Kenneth Langone, who was involved in founding Home depot is a fantastic conservative and is a supporter of Donald Trump.

Years back I chronicled here on FR my experience with Mr. Langone. He is a great guy!

You might want to do a little more research before you paint Home Depot as some kind of liberal company:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/10/us/day-laborer-battle-runs-outside-home-depot.html

This topic has even been discussed here in 2008:

One of the coolest things I have ever experienced is chatting with Kenneth on the phone. He is a trip!

Two points need to be made regarding these ads and the people who pay for them.

  1. Advertising on a big TV event such as the Super Bowl is hugely expensive; those companies and their ad agencies who create the ads want to reap as much of a return on their investment as possible. That means appealing to the largest share of the viewing audience, not a narrow segment.
  2. CEOs of public corporations sometimes have political views so radical that, if expressed fully, it would bring untold damage to their company's sales, earnings, growth, employee morale and productivity. The smart executive tests the water before diving into the political cesspool. Stupid ones go in head-first.
Now, we all have our favorites among home-improvement stores. We shop for value, convenience, product availability, many other factors including how well we're treated by the store's employees.

I like Home Depot because it's close to where I live, has a good selection of tools and hardware and it's open late when I most often need something like a toilet flapper or a new mop. Whether the CEO of Home Depot is a Republican or a Socialist is a question I've never even thought to ask, and now that I know it will have absolutely no bearing on whether I continue to shop at Home Depot.

My guess is 75-80% of the public is like me in that respect. It doesn't matter. (Ben and Jerry's on the other hand, is on my Don't Ever Buy list.)

Now, how would you feel about 84 Lumber if you learned that the CEO who authorized and spent money for their Super Bowl commercial was a life-long Democrat who supported Hillary, 0bama before that and Gore, Clinton, Dukakis and all the other rats back to the 1960s?

Would that be sufficient cause to not buy anything there if it had been your preferred lumberyard?

Well, surprise, surprise!

The owner/CEO of 84 Lumber backs Trump on the big, beautiful wall, although she somehow thinks there will also be a “big, beautiful door in the wall so that people can come into this country legally.” That may be a stretch.

We will soon learn if the politicians who claim to be against illegal immigration really mean it, or mean something else.
