Burning passions over Donald Trump's presidency are taking a personal toll on both sides of the political divide. For Gayle McCormick, it is particularly wrenching: she has separated from her husband of 22 years.
The retired California prison guard, a self-described "Democrat leaning toward socialist," was stunned when her husband casually mentioned during a lunch with friends last year that he planned to vote for Trump a revelation she described as a "deal breaker."
"It totally undid me that he could vote for Trump," said McCormick, 73, who had not thought of leaving the conservative Republican before but felt "betrayed" by his support for Trump.
"I felt like I had been fooling myself," she said. "It opened up areas between us I had not faced before. I realized how far I had gone in my life to accept things I would have never accepted when I was younger."
Three months after the most divisive election in modern U.S. politics fractured families and upended relationships, a number of Americans say the emotional wounds are as raw as ever and show few signs of healing....

Heh. My hippie aunt was a Bernie supporter until Hillary’s minions did him in. Once she saw how Hillary really operated, she went full-tilt Trump. She’s of the older generation, and has pretty much had enough of the snowflakes, and lying bull-excrement too.
” to accept things I would have never accepted when I was younger.”
Yet he put up with her commie crap and never ditched her ass.
OK, she’s not divorcing him, just separating. (I read the whole article.)
So, am I supposed to give up my friendship with a guy I’ve known since 7th Grade because he voted for Clinton??? Is that what polarized politics demands of me???
F that.
They say don’t talk about politics to keep the peace but I feel certain values are a basic part in being a R or a D.
Myself I don’t have much in common with D’s and often can detect one after a short period of time.
I could never co habitate with one fer sure especially a rabid one like those that have reared their ugly heads this election cycle.
The article uses one instance to declare a general rule. Very incompetent writing.
Dead on.
Get it all straight before you commit.
No liberal voting.
No “it’s the dogs or me”.
:D
Haven’t talked to my brother since Trump entered the race. He’s that upset. I can’t imagine being married or even dating a woman who is anti Trump.
When I go out, the first thing I ask is are the pro or anti Trump. If it’s Anti, it’s sayonara before it starts. If it happens during the date, I give her cab fare, pay for the dinner and leave.
Before looking at her picture, I would have agreed with you on the 3 day party. After seeing her picture, I would say that it would be a three month party. And she is probably just as ugly and nasty on the inside is she is on the outside.
*bwahahahahahaaaaa*
Damn, you let your wife vote ?
Be sure to get tested on occasion. I know a guy who got one, and nature still found a way. Yes, it's his kid, he got tested after his wife became pregnant, and he had plenty of healthy swimmers.
Y’all will probably still miss them, however, and those splits WILL be ugly, IMO.
What happened with you and your wife is pretty much what happened between my husband and I. In a conversation after supper one night I mentioned to him that I really liked what Trump was saying. Neither of us was sure he was making a serious run but he listened. It took a few more weeks for me to swing my support from Cruz to Trump but my husband respectfully heard what I said. (He works full time, I retired early so I had more time to study the candidates) He began his own reading of Trump’s views after we started the discussion and was shortly on the Trump train as well.
We are different from most folks it seems in that we don’t have any close family or friends who are libs. Before the election my family got together and while all were planning to vote for Trump several, including my dad, said they really didn’t want to vote Trump, just had to vote against the Beast. My husband was a true campaign champion in changing some tunes with an “angry white working man” point of view. He was fed up with the platitudes and even though he had to go into an angry outburst he made 2 converts. It didn’t actually gain any votes but it gained support.
Well, for one thing, as many have said, a Liberal is not right in the head. There is nothing rational and sane about them.
LOL, I feel the same way. The subject of remarriage came up at lunch Sunday after church. We were talking about estate planning in a general sense. My wife brought up that the kids were beneficiaries on her life insurance policy, to ensure that they'd be taken care of, should I get remarried.
My response was a bit short of thunderous laughter. I love my wife, but I will NEVER remarry. Once has been enough for me.
He EOSed.
You get the award for most important point on this thread.
I rambled about "stuff." You made the right point. Replied because it bears repeating.
she needs a dose of Jesus more than anything else,
It is. They cannot be reasoned with. There is no hope for them.
Who is capable of this?
We are told by the libtards that we have to be tolerant of trannies, fags, dykes, muzloids and every other degenerate....but not them. They can be as intolerant as they like without consequence. /sarc
Maybe, maybe not. But I would plan for it. Read what the Bible has to say and plan accordingly. Brother against Brother. Father against son.....
