Schumer warns Trump's attack on judge could impact Supreme Court confirmation

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Saturday warned that President Donald Trump’s attack on a federal judge who issued a broad block on his travel ban would firm Democratic resistance to his nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

“The President's attack on Judge James Robart, a Bush appointee who passed with 99 votes, shows a disdain for an independent judiciary that doesn't always bend to his wishes and a continued lack of respect for the Constitution, making it more important that the Supreme Court serve as an independent check on the administration,” Schumer said in a statement.

He added, “With each action testing the Constitution, and each personal attack on a judge, President Trump raises the bar even higher for Judge Gorsuch's nomination to serve on the Supreme Court. His ability to be an independent check will be front and center throughout the confirmation process.”

They do not know the Constitution from the Declaration, which they have proved many times by reciting one and saying it was another. Idiots.

The problem is NO judge should get 99 votes.

Get Sessions in, and let him clear these lawyers who are not up for defending this EO, and blowing the case on purpose.

Go nuclear and vote the Judge in too ASAP.

Enough of trying to appease these idiots. They protested on the night when Trump became President and then stated he has not brought the country together.

You lost, get the F over it, and these fake protests and outrages are pathetic

Enough of this. Go nuclear and bring it to a head. The time for nuance has passed.

This.

And the same with the Executive Branch nominees that are getting through the Senate once every 30 hours of debate.

And the same for laws. There's no reason to get Democrat approval on laws.

Upchuck Schumer’s opinion was not changed one whit either way on how he regards the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the open seat on the Supreme Court. He cannot be more against the confirmation than he already is, and obviously this latest spat between Donald Trump and a specific Federal judge in no way soothes Schumer’s mind.

You know, Donald Trump has already had running disagreements with certain Federal judges before he was ever President.

80% of the counties in New York would definitely vote to replace Schumer.

Appointed by a Republican. I see no evidence Robart IS one himself. He’s a far-leftist radical.

The people warn Schumer to back off before he starts something he can’t finish. Chuck, you had better take the aforementioned advice.
