Maybe he’s simply unfit for the job?
If this guy is vetted as honorable. Trump should have him stand next to him at the swearing in and immediately recommission him.
Trust issues?
This position always ends the same way. Its occupant is the only one who serves at the pleasure of the president. His position will be filled by the man who did all of the behind the scenes secret work to secure the inauguration, his name has not been announced so he could better go about his work.
I take this as proof that the security risks to the president elect are very high during the inauguration.
It’s a non story. He’s a presidential appointee. He submitted his resignation letter 30 days ago. Pentagon ordered him relieved from duty 0001 20 01 17. Plus, he’s 65 and served for 16 years.
The guy is like a TAG (The Adjutant General) of a State National Guard. These guys are APPOINTED and serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
They always get replaced when the political winds shift.
Even though this seems quite unusual, the article indicates the Trump Transition team is on top of it. As stated in the article, the leader serves at “the discretion of the President”.If anyone on the Trump team is uncertain of the replacement, they could make sure there is a Trump supporting replacement for him at 12:01:01.
Sounds like the short and sweet synopsis of a film script.

10 U.S. Code § 1251: Mandatory retirement age is age 62 for all officers other than general or flag officers. Service Secretaries may defer the retirement of health professional officers and chaplains until the age of 68.
As I said in that thread: “I take this as a manufactured publicity by the Anti-Trump forces & Dems of a normal function during a change of presidents, wherein the new president accepted the resignation. No one seems to be complaining that Ms. Lynch, Mr. Kerry, and the remainder of the cabinet officers are also being fired at 12:01 pm on Jan 20.”
Who ordered this? It would appear to be 0bama because, the DC commander was appointed by President Bush. However, everyone knows that 0bama can’t order an action after noon Jan 20th.
Fishy or fake.
Flynn, Kelly and Mattis (and others) following their gut, looking out for Trump.
His brigade commanders take over.
This is a political appt made by the President. The guy is 65 years old and it’s time to move on.
For what its worth Dept.........

From the Washington Post article
.....
As is customary, Schwartz, like other presidential appointees, submitted a letter of
resignation to give the new administration a clean start. He had done so before, but
the Obama administration twice declined to accept.
The Trump transition team made the decision to accept Schwartzs resignation,
according to a military official with knowledge of the situation.

D.C. National Guard Chief Fired Days Before Trump Inauguration: “The Timing Is Extremely Unusual” ^

When you plan a coup, the officer who commands the troops on the streets of the capital city is a key guy.
Friday, January 20 is the only day the streets of DC can be flooded with soldiers without raising alarm.
And the soldiers of the DCNG are raised from a population which voted 95% for Hillary.
It’s concerning that the transition team wanted this guy to stay, but the Army said no. I hope Mattis has troops ready to move in the event of need.
He submitted his papers to retiree 2 times in the past with Obama and was denied..Trump accepted them, acording to this.
Its more Smoke Mirrors and Bull S#!T
http://www.courant.com/nation-world/ct-dc-national-guard-commander-removal-trump-20170113-story.html
I suspect there’s more to it. He’s likely a political hack and cannot be relied on to crack down on agitators when necessary - and, obviously, people like that cannot be permitted to stay in place.
Per Fox, it is SOP for this to happen at noon on inauguration day - they say Trump offered to let him stay through the inauguration proceedings and he refused.....he’s a “look at me” hound and leans so far Left the world is tilted 88 degrees to the right from his view.
The Washington Post rewrote their article without saying it was an update.
Here’s the first thread to explain the confusion
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3513774/posts
Original at 1:55pm
Current article at 5:23pm yesterday
They added this in the update:
“Military officials and Trump transition officials provided contradictory versions of the decision to replace Schwartz. As is customary for presidential appointees, the general submitted a letter of resignation to give the new administration a clean start.
Two military officials with knowledge of the situation said the Trump team decided to accept the resignation. A person close to the transition said transition officials wanted to keep Schwartz in the job for continuity, but the Army pushed to replace him.”
I think the Washington Post was playing games and whatever they hoped to accomplish by leaving out the whole story, didn’t work the way they anticipated.
Pretty sure that someone dubbed this a non-story yesterday and that the debunking comment is in the thread about this that appears in the sidebar.
