Celebrity chef and self-described privileged Eastern liberal Anthony Bourdain slammed his fellow leftist elites this week, arguing that their disdain for working-class Americans helped create the upswell of rage and contempt that propelled Donald Trump to the presidency.
The utter contempt with which privileged Eastern liberals such as myself discuss red-state, gun-country, working-class America as ridiculous and morons and rubes is largely responsible for the upswell of rage and contempt and desire to pull down the temple that were seeing now, Bourdain said in an interview with Reason magazine.
Ive spent a lot of time in gun-country, God-fearing America, Bourdain continued. There are a hell of a lot of nice people out there, who are doing what everyone else in this world is trying to do: the best they can to get by and take care of themselves and the people they love. When we deny them their basic humanity and legitimacy of their views, however different they may be than ours, when we mock them at every turn and treat them with contempt, we do no one any good.(continued)

Isn’t he one of them?
... but he’s one, himself.
I say that as someone who often enjoys his travelogue shows.
You know, we may just let this guy survive.
That’s probably what he’s hoping for.
“The self-congratulatory tone of the privileged left just repeating and repeating and repeating the outrages of the opposition this does not win hearts and minds.”
Someone should give this guy a show on CNN.
Says the same nut job that made a pronouncement that he’d never eat in a Trump restaurant.
That same sh-tball was badmouthing Trump just last week.
FO, you washed-up fry cook.
It’s nice to see liberal people like him starting to come to their senses and be reasonable! Tom Hanks also asked for calm, so I will give both of them kudos.
In America, we used to be able to be politically opposed yet still have friendly discussions and remain friends... civility!
Gun country. I like that.
Ah, ok, I didn’t know he was trashing Trump last week. I take back what I said. Sounds like he’s just talking out of both sides of his mouth.
Admitting your problem is the first step to recovery.
who is he to criticize? i used to like this guy... i’m over him...
There is no common ground any more, Anthony Bourdain. The society has totally bifurcates and one side must ultimately prevail and the other must disappear of be crushed. Seeking common ground is simply your method of imposing your insanity on the sane.
I guess the drugs, etc. didn’t totally destroy his brain.
He’s been scum for decades. No need to change opinions of him now. That “gun country” comment is a slap down.
This is starting to be said more and more from many leftist corners, but I have to wonder, would they be saying this if Clinton had won or would they just have continued being elitist, arrogant snobs?
.
So, now Bourdain “gets it?”
I never would have guessed.
I suppose PBS will be done with him now!
.
Bourdan is A snarky, contemptible liberal elitist. He’s just scrambling to recast himself, he knows what his image is and he doesn’t want his boring overpaid TV gig to suffer.
.
I guess that having one’s face wiped in Clinton’s poop has a humbling effect.
.
reasonable Liberal. He said something about needing to
listen to the other side so he went & hung out with Howie
Carr I think. That's why I found it strange he had such a
dislike of TRUMP
