Are you with that crowd that is still sitting on the fence figuring if you're gonna buy an AR? Or, maybe you decided that you wanted to invest in one but not sure of which brand? Or, you did get one but still not sure if you got the right AR15?
You can go cheap to high end. Obviously, the good cheap are Ruger, M&P and others. High End would probably be Daniel Defense or Cobalt Kinetics. Or, you can let this guy from Wrangler Star Youtube explain his reasoning for going with a DDM4V7, yeh its a Daniel Defense brand. You can hear what this fella had to say about his AR choice here. Please chime in and let us know if you're an AR owner and why/how did you choose the AR that you have.
Thank you.
They still make the standard M1A with walnut stocks. I love mine!
I understand people are on budgets, so I don't get all snooty if someone wants a S&W or equivalent AR, because they aren't likely to push it really, really hard. The Colts are still the yardstick by which a fighting AR is measured (some people say they are the baseline). The DD stuff is pretty good, and they stand behind it. BCM offerings ditto, but - IMHO - not any better. LMT about the same. I haven't been around a new Noveske or Larue, but Knight's Armament are dandy, but they don't come cheap.
For coyote guns, show-and-tell shooters or paper/pop bottle plinkers, it doesn't matter because if it takes a crap at the wrong time, nobody is likely to die as a consequence.

You bought the correct gun. Only buy ARs chambered for 5.56. It can shoot both 5.56 and .223. The reverse is not so.
I follow Wranglerstar, he likes guns, but is not a gun guy. He demonstrates tools mostly on his videos. That video was a tool review not an advertisemen,t just a demonstrations of a tool he really likes. Take it for what it is.
He has one of the better channels on Youtube and his older videos are classics. His construction of a water hammer pump is great information for preppers and just plain interesting.
Right on! There's a reason the DEA buys them. I own two. Put thousands of rounds through both reliably. Fantastic weapons.
I know I didn’t cause I bought a FN SCAR 17 instead.
Colt is a bit expensive for what you get. Checking the specs they don’t mention cold hammer forged barrels. Other than that though they’re great, and they would hold their value better than other brands.
FN is rumored to be the maker of most AR cold hammer forged barrels on the market. FN makes great barrels. The M16A2 I shot with my state’s National Guard rifle team was a FN and it was a tack driver. My SCAR 17 is crazy accurate also.
I agree that when people ask what AR to buy, I give them advice that they proceed to ignore, and then they buy a $599 AR on sale at the local gunshop.
LOVE my SCAR 17.

I have a Palmetto State Armory build that I like. It’s accurate, hasn’t jammed or broken and I could probably shoot rocks out of it if I had to.
Try unusable tomatoes with a 17HMR using the 17 grain bullets. The tomato explosions are quite spectacular.
I’m with you on the 7.62 round.

I was on a National Guard team so we competed with rack grade non altered M16A2’s in the military matches.
When we shot civilian matches I shot my Armalite NM with a heavy stainless match barrel, float tube, tuned 2 stage trigger, lead weights in the butt and hand guard, and match sights.
You’re correct, for precision shooting hammer forging isn’t optimal. For barrel life though it is.
LOL! We could really have fun talking guns over some beverages!
I’ve had my eye on the new Savage semi. It seem’s like a lot of fun for a bargain price.
I like turtles on logs in oxbow’s. Quite spectacular also.
M-1 Garand is dependable beyond belief. Marines in Chosin Reservoir used axle grease to keep them firing. I heard of Garands tested soaking wet and covered with dirt. I’d stake my life on one.
Colt CAR15 LE green label (no doubt in my mind). If I had to chose one in survival mode, this would be it.
PSA builder here too, solid products at great prices, only thing that sucks for me is having to pay sales tax on web orders because I’m a SC resident...
As long as the pointy objects come out the front end when you pull the trigger then you are good to go.
The quality of the build, the furniture, and the service. They’ve been more than proactive in making sure this thing works for my purposes.
I looked at the high end hand built rifles from Noveske and BCM but got a much better unit price with the needed accessories from DD.
