a protective pool (press) are reporters who are supposed to follow POTUS basically 24/7 to report on anything that might happen to the pres. Think Hinkley or GWB during the 911 attack

The ‘Protective Pool’ protects the media from missing out on a big story. They are the reporters who are always close at hand, and will share with the reporters who are sleeping off their hangovers. If it’s a democrat, there is an understanding that they won’t report any misconduct they see.
Trump doesn’t want them underfoot.

No, he doesn’t. There are no party animals within a mile of our POTUS-E, and there never will be.
That alone has the MenSeekingMen in a fog of cognitive dissonance. No open bar? No napping? No Cocaine? Just sandwiches? And bagged chips?
Yes, Fourth Estate. Welcome to the real world. We’ll go ahead and take that credentils badge now, sissies.

Or in President Trump’s case, enable bad things.

It might make more sense to call the mainstream media an endangered species and place them in a special place like antelope and spotted owls, where they can survive unharmed by predators such as the alt right and radio talk show hosts. /s
