I still have a couple of those that were Xmas presents as a kid. They cover parts of China.
I never knew any history behind them and always assumed they were either for the Doolittle Raid or the Flying Tigers.

From the article: "By the end of the war, expert Philip E. Orbanes says, 744 captured airmen had freed themselves using tools designed by Hutton."
Not a bad record, especially considering the expense of training pilots or aircrew, which presumably made up the bulk of the allied POW population in Germany.
