Weak Early Voter TurnOut Among African Americans Hurting Clinton in Florida
Politico.com ^ | November 1, 2016 | Marc Caputo

Hillary Clinton has a black voter problem in the nation’s biggest battleground state. After the first full weekend of in-person early voting ended Sunday, African-American turnout failed to meet expectations — or historic precedent — leaving top Democrats and activists fuming or worried that Clinton’s campaign isn’t living up to the hype in Florida..............

“They’re not doing enough in the black community. I have been screaming for months about this and nothing changed and now look what’s happening,” said Democratic U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, who represents one of South Florida’s largest African-American communities...........

“The black vote is way underperforming compared to 2012,” Smith said. Clinton’s Florida communications director, Mahen Gunaratna, said Clinton has been campaigning in African-American communities throughout the state.

......Both the Clinton and Trump campaigns are blitzing Florida this week. Former President Bill Clinton is making stops today in Immokalee, Florida City and St. Petersburg. Hillary Clinton holds rallies in Dade City, Sanford and Fort Lauderdale. And President Barack Obama is in Miami and Jacksonville on Thursday. Trump will also stop in Jacksonville and Pensacola on Thursday after making Wednesday appearances in Miami and Orlando.

The black vote is not only crucial to Clinton but to any Democrat who wants to win statewide. Though 13 % of nearly 13 million registered voters in Florida, African-Americans often give Democrats 90 % of their vote. Although the margins are huge for Democrats, the benefit of the black vote diminishes with low turnout.

.... Democrats see reason to hope in the emergence of the Hispanic vote. Hispanics, who account for about 16 % of the active registered voters, appear to be backing Clinton with at least 60 % of their vote or more. Compared to 2012, Hispanic voting is off the charts. As of Monday morning — eight days before Election Day — Hispanics had cast more than 507,000 absentee ballots by mail and in-person early votes. That’s 97 % of the total combined early ballots that Hispanics cast in the entire 2012 election, according to an analysis from the Associated Industries of Florida, a conservative-leaning business group.

... Donald Trump needs to carry Florida in order to keep his presidential hopes alive. His path to the White House therefore gets easier if blacks don’t make it to the polls in Florida in big numbers.

One big unknown: the 19 % of independent voters — known as no party affiliation voters in Florida — who have cast ballots so far. About 66 % of the early NPA voters so far are white and 18 % Hispanic.

Race and party aside, another problem for Clinton right now might reside with young people. Millennial voters (ages 18-34) generally back Clinton, but they’ve only cast 402,000 ballots so far — 52 % of their 2012 total, according to AIF. Those over 65 — who are most likely to support Trump — have cast the most ballots so far, 1.6 million. That’s 97 % of their 2012 total.....

... Leslie Wimes, an African-American activist... told POLITICO that the Clinton campaign was in “panic mode” over what looked like a lack of enthusiasm by blacks for Clinton. The campaign denied it and Wimes was excoriated on social media by Democrats and liberals for speaking out.

“My reaction is pretty clear: I. Told. You. So,” Wimes said. “All their talk about enthusiasm in the black community was bullshit. Bullshit.

In September, I said they had time to fix the problem. Now we’re a week away from the election and they can’t fix it. Let’s hope the Hispanic vote bails her out.” (excerpted)

So the Hispanic vote that is supposed to be bailing Hillary out in Florida has been recently boosted by their GOTV effort that began with registering thousands of re-settled Puerto Ricans in the Orlando area.

This article is spot-on to the luke warm reception Hillary is getting in the AA community across the state of Florida. She attends their churches and events and the rooms and activity centers are half empty.

Aww, you mean riling up blacks and telling them the entire system is rigged against them doesn’t increase their voter turnout? Whodathunk?

If it’s happening in Florida it must be happening everywhere else.

Not buying it. I say it’s fraudulent, that’s why they protest too much!

Gently remind them to go vote on Nov. 9th.

Better yet, tell them they don't need to vote, their vote is already counted for Hillary.

It won’t be a repeat of 2008. Out of every ten blacks that voted in 2008....I’d take an educated guess that only six will vote this time around, and two of the six will vote Trump. I think in urbanized areas....it’s a big negative and will drag the Democrats back to the table to talk over 2020 and 2024. Somehow, they have to find another ‘empty-suit’ black guy with no resume, to run again.

But who’s to say those thousands of recently registered Puerto Ricans are voting for Hillary, or are even voting?

Means Trump’s truthful message is resonating with a good portion
of the black community.

Let us not overlook the fact that Trump is polling the most AA vote since 1980 for a GOP candidate. So, this is the double whammy, less votes for Hitlery and more for Trump in that community. If this is accurate, she can kiss Fl goodbye and the polls say that already.

Clinton is not Obama. That is all I have to say. Obama had tons of charm, Hillary not so much. Most of the people I see voting for Hillary have the unenthusiastic rationale of “I hate Trump, so I vote for Hillary.”

they’ve only cast 402,000 ballots so far — 52 % of their 2012 total.

That’s talking about under 30 crowd.

That’s GOT to offset the PRs, no?

And over 65 group is ALSO already at 97 percent as compared to last elections full early voting tally.

Blacks down.

I cant see how she wins.

Independents are the only question mark and I cant imagine they’re breaking for hillary.

Oh Say Can You Shill...90 second video
“An Ode to Queen Hillary”

BleachBit, hammers and public lies, oh my;
The stench of her YouTube Benghazi alibi.
Perverts and bimbos with Weiner & Slick Willy,
Hill’s character & judgement’s truly quite silly.
Syria, ISIS, and her Middle East ablaze,
Muslim Brotherhood still advises her ways.
A slush-fund foundation built on pay-to-play,
Dead broke to uber rich, the Clinton way.
Head trauma, “amnesia” and 13 devices, Hill’s cleaners excused with FBI passes.
Rule of law and blind justice bounced on it’s ass, Tricky Dick Nixon is surely aghast.
For America to remain the home of the brave,
We must not elect her or we dig our own grave.

People need to realize that Hillary simply doesn’t have the same appeal with African-Americans that Obama did. That’s why in 2010 and 2014 (when Obama wasn’t on the ballot), blacks were far less of a factor than in 2008 and 2012. How excited can blacks be for a white woman who chose a white man as her running mate? There’s simply no urgency for them to vote Democratic. Obama had the unique coalition of foolish whites and then massive support from minorities who identified with Obama. These same minorities don’t identify with Hillary. This could cost Hillary a number of states, including Florida, North Carolina, Ohio and others.

I still don't dismiss the black vote for Hillary. Don't think it will be what it was in 2012 but not by much.

If you don't believe me just tune in to a Black radio station. Every 10 mins. there is an add promoting Clinton. Most of them are by Obama telling them not to let Trump destroy all his has done and by voting Hillary they will be giving him a great send off.

Just saying.......
