Did Comey's fear of Trump becoming president and having Trump's AG investigate his own unwillingness to investigate Hillary's criminal activities prompt him to change his tune?
Thoughts?
I read that story this morning and don’t agree with Adams’ hypothesis. He paints Comey as a good guy which is at once both naive and a gross oversimplification of what has become a mess of historic proportions.
The simple truth (Occam’s Razor if you will) is probably something more like this: Comey is reacting to the threat of very damaging emails from Wikileaks and he had to take some sort of “proactive” action to make it look like the FBI was “on the case”. The reality is probably that his hand was forced by Wikileaks and he didn’t want it to look like they were driving the investigation (i.e., Wikileaks is making the FBI look bad).
Well, they found a whole damn computer hidden away at Huma's house which obviously contains State Department emails. Now Huma kinda swore that all computers and data was given to the FBI...except for all the ones that were destroyed and all the emails that were destroyed.
Filed under insurance...I'd say the emails would/could/might be used to blackmail some of these people involved. Surely, it would at least (and that's already obvious) keep them quiet.

Mr. Adams is not a conservative, but some of his recent writings make quite a bit of sense. His discourse on why the right and left will never agree on guns was brilliant!
The story that is going around is that the rank-and-file at the FBI was breaking out in open revolt, and was threatening to leak things to expose him.

Good question. One’s perspective on the good can be changed by different things. I’m of the mind that his initial take on the case was formed by bad and incomplete Intel. I don’t think the man is corrupt.

No body knows, maybe even Comey doesn’t know.
No human motives are 100% pure. Most likely part of his motive was to cover his ass, and part from conscience.
What was the mixture? Only God knows.

Agree with you that the information would eventually be leaked. There are a lot of unhappy campers in the FBI right now.
As for the newsphonies speculating that Comey was in a lose-lose situation, I prefer to think of that as a dumb-dumb situation. Someone in his position has no excuse for not knowing that emails proliferate in unintended ways as they are stored, backed up, printed and often forwarded to others. It was inevitable that some of her emails would pop up eventually.
Comey was caught between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea so he chose the route that might keep him from Arkancide by being public.
Don’t know and care less.
Just wanna see the Beast in prison.
Hillary is about to have here kiester handed to her in the general.

I sincerely hope you’re right BUT don’t underestimate the Clintons. They have been in near perpetual scandal mode for decades and know how to survive politically better than anyone. Its not a pleasant thing to think about, but they are far from done. They and their allies in the media will circle the wagons and go on the offensive like they have countless times before.
Trump cannot let up on them for a second. He needs to stay on the offensive.
How many lifeboats did Titanic have, and for how many people? Jimmy the weasel is looking for his seat.
I have no way of knowing this but my guess is his FBI agents threaten to resign if he didn’t do something to save their rep.
I don’t think the man is corrupt.

This is not Comey’s first rodeo or association with Clintons. Check the history.
And why did he wait for a Friday afternoon to inform congress? By doing so, he did Hillary a big favor (again).
I wouldn’t dismiss the possibility of corruption so fast.

I keep thinking about all those (Jebbie for the most vocal) who said Trump will never be President. Jebbie must be having a hard time choking down his guacamole these days.
