I think it might even be simpler than all that. I’ll bet the Abedin/Weiner breakup is NOT amicable. Weiner noticed some “great stuff” and shoveled it in the direction of the authorities. Weiner stuck it to them.

Believes Trump might just win, and if he does, and appoints a spec prosecutor, Comey's butt, and many of his cohorts' butts will be in the sling, if not swinging from a rope.

So, he reignites the investigation, and if TRUMP wins, proceeds with full steam, gathering accolades for being untouchable..

If the grifter wins, he pulls the flush lever, keeps his job and monies, wins both ways.

Then there would be evidence that the Weasel can’t get to.

That would explain it. The weak part WAS that the Weasel would let someone who wasn’t a crook investigate Weiner.

Having another agency involved, that explains it perfectly.

It’s consistent with all of them except possibly the last. One question, if Ed Klein is correct, and Comey was basically a helpless cop thwarted by higher-up lawyers, is why would he make the immunity deals? However, to my knowledge, we do not know who actually made the proffers. It could have been made by DOJ lawyers working the case with the FBI. In Klein’s book he claims that the other alphabet agencies, NSA, CIA, DHS refused to help the FBI with any of the forensic computer examinations. It may well be that the investigation was crippled by DOJ as well.

I don't believe Comey is a person of integrity, at this point, so any theory that relies on that is out. I've been trying to think of a plausible reason that they'd let this drop...WikiLeaks has been dribbling out info for months -- people who already care, care, and nobody else pays any notice and the media doesn't cover it, so it's not like whatever is in these emails, no matter how bad, would have damaged her. If they wanted to get it out and let it blow away...They could have waited two weeks. They could have just sat on it and nobody would have been the wiser and there would have been no chance whatsoever that it might influence voters against Clinton. There is no reason that they would have let this drop if they were trying to help Clinton, because even if this ultimately doesn't hurt Hillary, there is no way that it can help her.

But at the same time, I can't think of a single reason that they'd want to hurt her chances. Some people are saying that Obama is implicated somehow, and they're throwing Clinton under the bus in order to save him, but wouldn't his best defense be to see her elected? How on earth would it help him to have Trump at the helm government, controlling the FBI and DOJ? Another theory is that they're sure Clinton is going to lose and Comey is kicking CYA-mode into high gear already, but considering how tight this election will probably be, with the fraud and everything else, this seems awfully premature.

Will Comey come out in 5 days and say, "Well, we looked into it and it was nothing. Looks like Clinton is double-dog cleared of any wrong-doing, have a nice election, folks."...? If so, why bother with this entire stunt at all? I just can't figure out why this is happening, but considering the source, the intention behind this can't be for the good.

Fact: We know 0bama lied about the server. However, what if one of Huma Abedin's emails from Hillary!® says something like: "Barack is going to handle the FBI thing."

That is a substantially different kind of involvement.
