How sad... The bishops are siding with the Democrats and inflicting greater harm to our culture and the church. This isn't surprising.
Yes, virtually every so called Trump hit item, is virtually a lie!
I sent them an email asking when the Pope said it was okay to lie! I never heard back from them.
So maybe those stories of the Catholic Church collaborating with the NAZIs ate true I now think so.
The Catholic faith which I follow is not of these men. They will come and go but the faith will remain even if it is smaller and leaner than it is today. Strong Bishops and Cardinals will rise up out of the ashes created by these men. Those who have said they are done with the Catholic faith because of these men’s actions I feel for you but do not blame you. Hold on to the faith not the men. Your faith is not in them and does not end because of them.
Around here (Boston) it used to be the practice to pay seat money on entering the church. It was 25 cents, ushers would man the boxes at the rear of the church to make change if you needed it. I think it disappeared around the time of Vatican II.
Below is a photo of clergy being forced to participate in a rally. I forget where and when it happened but if you look at their faces they aren't very happy about it.
Again, note how unhappy they are. They were forced to participate and salute.
There are a lot of conspiracy theories about the church's role but it was coercion. Reinhardt Heydrich and Heinrich Himmler were notoriously anti-christian particularly against Catholics.
And then there were the Ustashe in Croatia, and Father Tiso in Slovakia.
I’ve been a regular pewsitter since 1958 (if you count it from my First Communion) and I’ve never seen it nor heard of it.
Might have been a regional thing.
IIRC, kids didn't have to pay it -- even high school kids. I don't remember if I ever had to pay it myself. I do remember my mother paying it. And of course it was only for Sunday Mass, not daily.
And today we have Father Mike Pfleger.
