Taco Truck on every Corner...
Self | 9-3-2016 | AzNASCARfan

I was talking to a friend today, and I said I thought it was interesting how all the liberal sites are talking about how cool it would be to have a taco truck on every corner and getting taco trucks set up to register voters etc... He said oh are you talking about what Trump said about having a taco truck on every corner? I said where did you hear that? He said I heard them talking about it on the news... I said Trump himself saying it? he said yes, so I told him that was not a Trump quote, but instead was the leader of a Latino group in LA that was pro-Trump saying it. I went on to tell him, this was after a rally they had last week called operation taco bowl, where I also heard Trump being called a racist afterwards for organizing that... except he didn't, this same Latino group did and they named it themselves.

Anyway, where I was headed, we moved into this house, located in the Maryvale district of Phoenix, 22 years ago, when we did, my oldest was starting 1st grade. Our first awards ceremony we realized white kids were not a majority here anyway. It was very close to 50/50 split hispanic/white not including other minorities. By the time he graduated, that split had gone to everybody being a Minority to the Hispanics. Only pointing all this out for background... I have had some GREAT Mexican neighbors over the years! They are the ones that came here to work hard and be Americans, Some legally others legalized last time around, but however they got here, they came and assimilated and it did not really matter to me. They did not come here to make America Mexico again! My mother in law used to get a good chuckle when she thought about answering my door to my neighbor coming over asking for yeff (my name is Jeff) 10 years later, that same neighbor is the foreman of a landscaping crew instead of the grunt worker, has a company truck and speaks English as good as I do.

Anyway, 1/2 mile away, there was a great little Mexican restaurant called Popo's. Around that same intersection there was a Pizza Hut, a Whataburger and maybe some others I forget now. A mile North of that intersection, there was a KFC, a little taco shop, a McDonalds a non chain pizza buffet and an olive garden I believe it was... within the first year or so, the olive garden burned and was not rebuilt and a new taco bell came in down the street soon after. The pizza buffet sold to another NY style pizza place a couple years later and it became a favorite of ours for years. Recently they sold and it got changed around to be a Sports Bar/Pizza place but the quality of their food was gone... A couple days ago we wanted a good Anti-Pasta salad and knew we could not go there anymore, so pulled out the new tech smart phone and asked where an Italian Restaurant was close by... Only different ones that came up were about 8 or 10 miles back across town now... So I searched for Pizza shops, besides the chain deliveries there were only a handful of pizza places left. I just want to say, I really like Mexican food, and extra spicy is great too! But, I like many other kinds of food too, not JUST Mexican food...

There needs to be some kind of ‘stamp of approval’ on all taco trucks

We in DC will be happy to set up an agency to do this for you. Your tax dollars at working doing the business of the American people.

How about you vet your own damn taco truck.

Taco truck on every corner run by a Paki or Syrian muslim rapefugee, the chicanos having been relegated to secondary most favored victim status by the democrats’ hunger for new voter/social welfare dependency demographics.

The irony in Phoenix is that if you want serious eats that Mexicans want, it is not tacos, but Sonoran hot dogs.

With the fixings, those things will kill you dead. Yet the vendors will have lines half a block long. A large man should be able to handle about one a week, assuming he eats little else.

To start with, it is not on a hot dog bun, but a bolillo, which is Spanish for “French bread”. Much wider and when split acts as a bowl so can be stacked much higher.

The hot dog itself is wrapped in bacon. And then the toppings.

Grilled onions, raw onions, caramelized onions.
Jalapeño, serrano or habanero pepper salsa. Also fresh and pickled hot peppers.
Other salsas, especially verde (green).
Tomatoes. Pico de gallo. Shrimp ceviche.
Avocado slices or guacamole.
Beans, pinto or black, whole or refried. Or chili.
Mayonnaise (to explain, mayo is beloved in Mexico).
Mexican farmer’s cheese (several varieties of queso).
Mustard.
Lime juice.
Chopped garlic.
Cream sauce. Cottage cheese.
Mushrooms marinated in soy sauce.
Chopped cilantro (Mexicans use way too much).
Sauerkraut (I have only seen this at one place, though).
Crumbled potato chips.

It is mandatory that you have a grilled chili pepper on the side. Beer is a big plus.

That particular Trump spokesman has had several days to clarify his message, but has not yet done it. At first listen, it sounds somewhat baffling. Why is he saying this would be a problem?

No, he was making the point that Mexican culture is "dominant" meaning that one of its values is to become the dominant influence in an area. In other words, to impose its values on the areas where the culture moves into. Or put more bluntly, to resist assimilation, and cause the other cultures to assimilate Mexican cultural concepts.

The concept of cultures with "dominant" tendencies isn't new, in fact that's one of the reasons people from England colonized the world for centuries. Islamic Arab cultures also have "dominant" tendencies, as is apparent from their history and actions today.

While every individual acts on their own values, and attempts to extrapolate individual behavior based on broad historical trends, or societal values as determined by analysis of group behavior are unreliable, the values of immigrants certainly shape society.

The spokesman made a very valid, although perhaps subtle point. The immigration of large numbers of individuals with a particular set of values will result in a change in society, and if that group values its own cultural dominance, then the immigrant group will move society more towards its culture than assimilate into the existing culture.

Your explanation was far better than his. That’s a very distinct and significant point to make. Muslims have that in common, but to a more threatening effect. Most likely he was nervous on the air, plus, English is his second language.
I’ve never been interviewed on the spot like that, where you were expected to come up with a cogent sound bite in “X” amount of seconds. At very least, he got the conversation going.

Does the order come with a couple of Pepto Bismal pills?
I would have to disassemble that fire dog quite a bit before I could eat any of it. Some folks are ready to rumble.

I would skip the pills and go for a couple of bottles.

We used to go to Nogales just for a day trip to go walking around drinking beer, shopping etc... always wanted to do Rocky Point and never made it there.

My mom has to hit Popos every time she visits, but some of the best real authentic Mexican food has been from our neighbors parties!
