President Obamas Environmental Protection Agency is going after Harley-Davidson for allegedly selling motorcycles that emit more air pollution than the almighty federal government allows, and is punishing them by making them pay for peoples stoves.
The federal tree-hugging watchdog complained that the motorcycle company manufactured and sold approximately 340,000 illegal devices, known as super tuners, that, once installed, caused motorcycles to emit higher amounts of certain air pollutants than what the company certified to EPA.
Since January 2008, Harley-Davidson has manufactured and sold two types of tuners, which when hooked up to Harley-Davidson motorcycles, allow users to modify certain aspects of a motorcycles emissions control system, the EPA claimed. These modified settings increase power and performance, but also increase the motorcycles emissions of hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides (NOx). These tuners have been sold at Harley-Davidson dealerships across the country.
While the company eventually settled with the EPA, Harley-Davidson maintains it didn't do anything wrong by selling its "Screamin' Eagle" tuners. Bloomberg reports:

Weren’t old HDs called “6 and 1’s”?
Work on them for 6 days and run it for 1.
For both a Harley and a moped, 37000 miles is a lot.
It only cooks potatoes. potato-potato-potato
In the 70s I rode a Kaw Z1. Almost everyone I rode with rode Harleys. When we pulled up somewhere it did not take long for them to have the telltale drip puddle. The Kawasaki was tight as a drum.
I used to tease them about riding farm implements on the highway. They used to try to brag that a Harley could be fixed with baling wire. I used to reply the Z1 didn’t need fixing. The thing could do the quarter mile in 11 seconds on 85 octane fuel. They knew how fast it was. They claimed the Z1 sounded more like a sewing machine than a motorcycle so we pulled the baffles and then it was MUCH louder than a Harley. At 9,000 RPM it sounded like a wounded Brontosaurus.
Just visited a well known stove manufacturer and the EPA has new regulations that are designed to shut them down. They come in every year, instead or every 5, and do air tight tests until they find something wrong. It is on the EPA’s list to eliminate wood stoves.
I still have my 1975 Z1B 900, bought brand new in August of 1974. Yes it is pretty fast, handles like crap, But it always runs perfect and is very reliable, 27,000 miles, Does not Leak a Drop. but my 1985 Yamaha RZ500 smokes it,big time
I was fortunate to have survived my Z1 days but I learned riding survival skills on it. When my CFO approved the purchase of a bike in 2008 I had no problem buying a Harley even though I had made fun of them for years. I wanted a more sedate ride in these latter years.
Well, the price of Screamin’ Beagle tuners just went way up . . .
I still have my ‘73 Z1. Engine #000189, frame #000188.
What offends the dems is the NAME of the product.
“Screaming Eagle” is a trigger for USA Superiority, nationalism, chauvinistic male pride, machismo, and white supremacy./s
I have several “Screaming Eagle” upgrades on my Harley! LOL!
(((And I’m female, old, and of mixed parentage!)))
What a crock. But you are right. That’s their end game for home owners, to get rid of wood burners. The EPA has way too much money, time, and power. They have no business acting like that but the left must control us at all costs.
Insanity!..........
A real motorcycle vs. “lifestyle” statements.
You are correct. Nixon was the worst president our country produced until the current one, and that has nothing to do with Watergate. Every conservative should despise the man who invented the Imperial Presidency and befriended Mao, the worst mass murderer in all of history.
Nixon also inflicted America with the hildabeast - otherwise would likely have been a failed lawyer
