This might be an idea whose time has come: Nearly two-thirds of Americans are in favor of free college for everyone, and about three-quarters think at least some people should be eligible for free college, a new survey shows.
As the labor market increasingly benefits the better educated, and as college education and earnings potential become more tightly linked, people are coming around to an idea that seemed radical until very recently.
Vermont senator Bernie Sanders touted the idea as a central plank of his primary platform, and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton recently announced her own version, which includes a household income cap of $85,000 that rises to $125,000 in the future, while Republican nominee Donald Trump has not released a detailed plan to address tuition costs....

The govt should be out of the higher education business. If a person doesn’t have the money or can’t get a loan on their own. They should go to work. No taxpayer money for higher education.
I trust that big pay cuts and reductions in staff are about to happen to universities across our land?
If you stop some people and ask them if they want a free car, of course they’ll say yes.
If you ask them like this, you’ll get a different answer.
Some politicians are proposing raising taxes on working people so as to give that money to college students to pay for their tuition. Do you approve of this?
Most people are too stupid to think past the question asked.

I want a free bank account, free house, free insurance, free vacations and a maid.
A democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for supper.
This is no different. People think that a college education is a “right”. Nothing is a “right” if it has to be provided by the labors of another. No one has a “right” to my money except my minor children.
Wrong answer. Only those who don’t have to pay taxes to fund it support. They’re the ones who are too stupid to realize that it’s tax dollars stolen from you and I to fund it though.
Obama promised me a pony. I’m still waiting.
2/3rd think someone else will pay for it.
And when you flood schools with unintelligent students, basically making it 13th-23rd grade, these places will have to do social promotion and become diploma mills or else they will have people camping out there for years!
And then whee are they going to get jobs with those degrees?
they wouldn’t if they were the ones paying for it...
wheres the poll on the people who are willing to fork over an extra few thousand in taxes each year to send someone else’s kid to college ???
Adolescence extended to 30’s. That’s what free school for adults means. Also, all the problems that come with keeping people from growing up until then.
NOTHING is free.
Somebody (taxpayers = We the People) will have to pay.
I want a pony!
See the 2 minute video above.
“Students” = Children.
Candy = Free Tuition
Anything “free” is worth about as much as you pay for it.
Higher education is not a right, it is a privilege bestowed upon those who have the necessary mental preparation to actually ABSORB historic life lessons, and have the inclination to devote personal time and resources to integrating these lessons from history into their own existence. College is only preparation for following the discipline of lifelong learning into your own personal bliss, not just a “union card” to get into some cushy cinch job that allows one to collect an obscenely large paycheck for little or no personal effort beyond that of showing up on a regular basis, smiling broadly, and nodding some vague agreement, while cashing the paycheck.
Drones have an exceptionally useless existence. And yet, this is what most college “graduates” who received a “free” education are doomed to become.
And there are already any number of “graduates” holding meaningless degrees, sitting home in their parents’ basement, contributing little but unrest to society.
As a person who worked his way through college, secured loans for law school, who has a wife that took loans for undergrad and graduate work, has one kid in college and two on the way to college, this makes me want to puke.
In the end, that’s three quarters of a million dollars out of my pocket for higher education.
And now people want it to be free?
F Them!
Older Graduate: I really can’t take your offer, I’ve still got $50,000 in college debt.
Employer: That’s too bad, the new graduates have none, so you’ll need to accept what is an ample amount for them. Sell your car and take the bus.
The Child Catcher video at #14 I meant.
I support free automobiles. Who’s with me?
