(Vanity) Prayers requested from animal lovers

Posted on 07/16/2016 6:32:26 PM PDT by LostInBayport

This is my very first vanity after nearly twelve years on FR. I just want to ask other animal lovers to say a prayer for my cat. I am not normally one to ask for help, but I am stressed out.

She is sixteen and over the past week has been going through some bad stuff that came on rather suddenly. I won't go into the details but you might consider buying stock in paper towels and cleaning supplies. The doctors have eliminated everything and seem to think it is a bleeding stomach ulcer. She came home today but I can't get her to eat and she is obviously uncomfortable. There are medications I have to give her that I have researched and may help but haven't yet.

Thank God I have a family member helping me out; I am very blessed to have that. I am under deadline for work and low on sleep and hope. This cat found me and has insinuated herself into my very heart and is more faithful of a companion than some dogs. I couldn't believe how lost I was when she was in the hospital, and now I fear I'm facing that on a permanent basis. She's had a hard life medically and I have done everything for her that I possibly could. I want to chuck my work out the window and just lay on the floor with her.

I will try to check into the thread as often as I can but I have to keep checking in on her and try to get work done while watching her suffer. I just want to access the power of FR prayer.

Beautiful kitty! I wouldn’t play poker with her, though, cuz she looks like a cheetah:)

FATHER GOD,

You say You know every animal.

Psalm 50:11
“I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine.

You say we are to take care of our pets. We thank You that You give us animals to love.

Proverbs 12:10
A righteous man has regard for the life of his animals.

May You heal LostInBayport’s cat.

In JESUS’ name we pray. Amen.

I’m sorry, she is dying. Cats cannot go long without water or food. Their internal organs malfunction quickly. I just kept one of my babies, only 5 alive 3night convincing myself that force hydrating and turkey baby food was working. It wasn’t , by the end of the third day he could not stand on his own. I know the pain, j lost him and another within 14 days. But it tortures the animal and helps nothing. For the sake of your loved one stay with her and let her go to God.

I don’t agree with you. I’ve had to force feed several of my elder cats and they recovered nicely. Each had different, serious ailments but they got through it in large part due to my feeding them.

How is your kitty doing?

And how are you holding up?

All through the night I thought about everyone posting here on this thread. I grieved at all the pet losses, with mine still being so new in my heart, it is just so sorrowful.

PRAYERS but prepare for the end. We had our 16 year old cat who we raised as a kitten put down a few months ago. It was extremely hard and even though she was still eating some and managing to use the litterbox, her arthritis had gotten really bad, plus she had a heart murmur. Slept almost 24/7. We loved her dearly, our Sadie. It’s hard.

I'm sorry for your loss. Why does it hit harder when we lose a pet?

Proverbs 12:10 A righteous man has regard for the life of his animals.

That was in my daily devotional the other night. It surprised me. Thank you for the prayer!

I managed to get some sleep and so did my cat. I had to lay on the floor with her though, and coerce her to lie down. Once I did she passed out. But we slept for a few hours (but I found that my legs and hips had aged thirty years when I got up). She is now sleeping comfortably on the bed.

She seems more alert but I just can’t get her to eat or drink and I’ve tried many of the suggestions on here that I could find in the pantry. She tries but it is as if there is a bad taste in her mouth. I will have to do the forced feeding again later after the medicine and consult the vet again on Monday.

But I have hope, much more than I did when I started this thread. Thanks to FReepers.

That is beautiful painting. I believe it is true in many ways.

That is such a beautiful & peaceful image. I am so sorry about your baby too. When they go they take a piece of our heart.

How is your baby girl doing?

I have seen some improvement. Her demeanor is coming back to normal, and we both got a few continuous hours of merciful sleep. But she just won't eat more than a few licks even though she seems interested. I am syringe feeding her. I think it may be a reaction from the medications, maybe making her mouth taste funny. The main medication ends on Wednesday night, and if things don't change after that some kind FReepers have offered some options that I will look into.

Thanks for asking...if only they could just tell us what's wrong!

I’m sorry your kitty is sick. Fellow cat lover here. I have two, a female Zuzu (named after Zuzu in It’s a Wonderful Life)and a male Kazi, which in African means “to work.” I’m kind of stuck on the “Z” theme. I love my babies so much and they bring me a lot of joy. When I’m on the computer, they are there in that room with me. When I’m watching tv, same thing. And when I go to bed to read, they are there. Wonderful, sweet animals. Will pray for you and your precious kitty.

Thank you. Like you said, they bring so much joy, but when they get seriously ill it is terrible. But we do our best.

I like that you picked such unique names for your cats!

So glad her demeanor is returning, hopefully her appetite will follow. You are a wonderful animal dad, many prayers to both of you.
