Sounds like another violent criminal off the streets.

What I see here tells me the rule of law goes out the window if the police officer suspects someone of something...and the police officer is right no matter what. I seriously disagree with this view, but it seems very popular here on FR.

Minnesota’s governor, Mark Dayton

Waiting for his correction on the incident now that he has trashed one of his officers

Even some of the Sunday AM panel members were trying to get past the rhetoric of the black "pity us" guests. Basically, that (out-shouted) concept is that we have to go back to being a nation run by the rule of law. Going to the streets demanding "justice" and publicizing unverified accounts accomplishes nothing positive. A protest over something that isn't the way it happened is where these police officers were slaughtered. These cases need to be investigated, with the law decided the outcome.

We can't have that if the BLM crowd keeps amping up the crazies (1) before the facts are verified and (2) if they don't like the outcome of the fact-finding and judicial process.

Another thing.....nobody had the guts to bring up the issue of horrific out-of-control violence in so many lower-income black neighborhoods.

“The still image appears to have been flipped horizontally.”

When looking at the photos posted here on FR, he was behind the wheel and I wondered why the steering wheel was on the right side of the car.

Cop pulls you over. Cop is upset and nervous and pointing a gun at you and orders you to keep your hands where he can see them.

You tell him your getting your ID and reach into your pants, where it is discovered later there is, in fact, a gun?

And your “girlfriend” calmly videos and narrates you getting shot?

1. You were reaching for your gun, in order to shoot the cop.

2. That’s not your girlfriend.

No one in this “debate” seems to recall that half of the violent crime in this country is committed by Blacks.

Why didn’t miss Diamond call for help instead of videotaping him dying?

And indeed, if Castile had been white, he wouldn’t have fit the description of an armed robber on that afternoon in Falcon Heights. For that reason, and no other, he probably wouldn’t have been stopped at all.

Faulty logic. Castile was the likely robber. If Castile was white the robber (being Castile) would have been white and he would still have been stopped.

The difference in public impact won’t be because of more acute observation, or a greater concern for truth, among white witnesses. It’s not like white girlfriends are more reliable in that regard. The difference will be that if this incident had involved white people, the odds are you would never have even heard about it.

Therein lies the rub.
There is a conversation that refuses to take place; THE third rail of race relations.
Why have blacks devolved into a stoneage response to public social civilized interaction? That they have is indisputable.

(Note that I have not said ALL blacks; just MOST blacks. If there is ONE exception to a general statement, does not invalidate the general observation based on real life. Spare me the sophistry)

There can be no improvement in our sick subcultures until that conversation takes place. Wherever it leads.

The policeman stopped Castile, the driver, for a broken taillight, and supposedly shot Castile while he was reaching for his wallet —

I read another article yesterday that stated he pulled the vehicle over because the vehicle, Castile, and his girlfriend fit an APB description of a robbery 2 days before and Castile used a firearm.

Am I alone in thinking that a cop who is “nervous” about ANYONE needs to leave that line of work and possibly seek psychotherapy? Nervous and jumpy people do not need a badge, gun and the power over life and death...

That said, the supposedly “real” video smells like bulls*** to me-the “girlfriend” sounds like she is staging and acting the whole thing-rather badly, in my opinion-if it were real, shouldn’t she be calling for help instead of directing, acting and filming all at the same time?

Awful as it is, I was reminded of an old Richard Pryor routine where he talked about his aunt faking a fall down stairs-”oh, Jesus stop me from falling down stairs, listen everybody, I’m about to fall down stairs”, etc. I also read on a news source that no one seems able to find the permit to carry the man claimed to have-too many are reacting to the Obama and liberal dogwhistle-”white racist cop-right over here, over here”...

The Jesse Jackasses need to be shouted down, any “protestors” who are really agitators brought in from someplace else and/or affiliated with NBP or the like need to be arrested, fined and escorted across the state line-then cooler heads can prevail-we are not getting anything sensible done with what is going on now...

A buddy of mine had something similar last year in the town he works.

Kid had an argument with family, got mama’s boyfriends gun, headed over to girlfriends house, (her mom got a restraining order against him). Police tried to detain him, he opened fire, they returned fired but missed. He then ran and offed himself.

Not ten minutes later the videos were flowing that the police shot him in the back, executed him, and why couldn’t he be carrying a gun at 18? This went around the world in minutes and it took two days to squash.

They even blamed the Ferguson police for shooting him.

It has become fashionable to tell monstrous lies for video hits. It is getting people killed and if it does not get reined in by serious legislation, it will continue to get worse.

Some more info on the girlfriend and the child in the backseat taking it all in. Very disturbing YouTube videos considering the drug use and language and the child in the backseat.

Even in expanded view, I do not see a gun in the man's lap. All I see is the seatbelt, apparently still buckled up.

There is one problem with getting a wallet out (of a man's rear pocket). Often, the seatbelt has to be disconnected first. If you do that BEFORE the police make it to the car -- they can write you up for not having a seatbelt on.

If you wait (hoping to avoid a b.s. traffic ticket) then are left with having to reach to a pocket (usually, with most men, a rear pocket) for a wallet, where the driver's license is very traditionally carried.

Police officers (with good sense?) very often stay to the rear and left of the driver while that kind of reaching is occurring. I've seen the police quite often put their hand on their own weapon during the time when a person is reaching for a pants pocket to retrieve the license. It seems like this recent incident in MN, the officer may have been towards the front and left of the driver?

*Some* people on this forum need to face the possibility that this may have been a bad shoot, albeit one predicated by similarity/ mistaken identity that could well enough have justified the initial police stop.

We don't have enough information yet to make critical judgement, and may never, regardless if the officer was too trigger happy -or was in some way justified.

If the deceased was NOT reaching for a gun (and why would he tell the officer he had a permit, and was armed, if he was planning on shooting a police officer?) then it WAS a bad shoot, one driven by fear.

That the "girlfriend" was a heavy pot smoker, or even that it may have been a low level marijuana sales (and smoke a little?), still, if the man was not reaching for a gun, and I would dare say if a gun not in view, then the police officer began shooting unjustifiably.

I'm sure I'll get lectures here now all about how dangerous it can be to be a police officer. It can be, and is. It can also be dangerous to be driving while black, with 'black' criminals willing to fight it out with police officers having been much of the reason for just why. Historically, there have always been more than a few 'white' criminals who are willing to fight with the police (have taken shots at them, sometimes killing an officer) too, so I need no lectures from others here. I'm getting old, and have guns stuck in my face many times -- and have lived through it so far. I do know how to act and not get shot by police, or bad guys, either(!), or at least have been able to successfully extemporize, so far.

There are millions of black Americans that don’t cling to the special privilege of not taking responsibility for their actions or their welfare but there also millions that do. It’s America’s biggest challenge to break the Democrats’ grip on the latter.

I wish I could get a streight report on the the facts of this incident instead of being forced to re-read reports several times like Dyer’s which covers hese points in a simplisric fashion and ignores the important details.
The officer involved was following procedure
There an APB on a local armed robbery what did that report say ? (type of vehicle used in escape, description of perpetrators)
When the officer called in his intended resposnse what did he say ?

Instead we get wandering speculation and attemtps to address issues not directly related to the incident. Including a pass on their governor reinforcing Obama’s inflamatory remarks.
