At least one professor in America does not feel the Bern.
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Professor Jack Stauder says his political and ideological conversion away from socialism and Marxism occurred when he actually witnessed these systems in action.
After traveling to more than 110 countries to pursue various forms of research, notably cultural anthropology, Stauder described his conversion from Marxism as a process of disillusionment.
I gradually became disenchanted with Marxism by visiting many of the countries that had tried to shape their societies to conform to its doctrines. I was disillusioned by the realities I saw in
socialist countries the USSR, Eastern Europe, China, Cuba, etc, Stauder told The College Fix via email.

The intellectual debates about a Socialist Utopia discussed inside the high brow University faculty lounges is nothing compared to getting out and experiencing its failures, EVERY TIME IT'S TRIED.
Well not so fast...look how well Venezuela is doing! Oh, wait a minute. Never mind.
Taxpayer funded research???
Hoe is this guy a ptofessor? 100 years of empirical proof and he only learned this by travelling the world? What a presumptuous prick.
What’s worse is he was seeing it failing in countries that operated in a communal-based culture for centuries before they adopted socialism. The US is an individual-based culture, which means there is no condition where socialism would be accepted in this country. The only end result is civil war and constant rebel attacks from more than half the population.
Yeah, THAT goes away with his traitorous conversion!
The commoners of Venezuela should be asking where the comestibles for the Country Club crowd reportedly feasting on come from and why. The place is a time-bomb. How long before the populace starts emigrating via the Isthmus of Panama to Mexico and points north?
Really? 110 countries? Give me a break!
Bump.
LOL, yup, the funds will dry up promptly!
Always the case that intellectually effete professors are stunned when they see how their theories work (just ask Bill Ayers)
Hey, at least he learned! They usually come back and say...yeah, that place is a mess but it's not Marxism's fault. They're just not doing it right.
What works in small does NOT, in this case, work in big.
That's what I was thinking. Maybe the only textbooks he had at his disposal were written by Howard Zinn?
As they say:
If you are not a socialist when young, you don’t have much of a heart.
If you are still a socialist when you are old, you don’t have much of a brain.
no, he’s not too smart... he should have been able to reach the obvious conclusions a lot sooner..... at least he’s not a lost cause.
Wrong- socialism works EVERY TIME according to the plans of the oligarchs who impose it. They get the peoples’ permission to steal and they make out like bandits until the tap runs dry.
Guy must have already announced his retirement because his tenure is about to be revoked.
Tell that to Governor Bradford.
