I don’t know the gorilla’s race but he definitely looked black to me ... or at least a very dark gray.

I hope people who comment on this thread listen at the link first, the caller was MENTIONING that others called the shooting racist. The DJ took those idiots to task. (Even said said the gorilla was acting as a better parent).

It’s almost a comic book like panic.
It might have taken nerves of steel but here’s what I would have done, assuming Harambe was the only gorilla out in the exhibit. Told the boy’s mother to go in there (through the zoo keeper door) and take the boy in her arms, covered by the sniper aimed at Harambe in case of any monkey business.
Might have saved the gorilla. There are a lot of accounts of gorillas showing kindness to humans who come in good will.
