Indictment.
That is the term heard increasingly from sources adjacent to the ongoing investigation into Hillary Clintons email scandal that apparently now places her at considerable risk of facing a very serious federal espionage charge.
The risk was great enough to require President Obama to come out publicly to warn off the investigation when during an interview he attempted downplay Mrs. Clintons confusion over federal classified information laws.
It was the very same tactic the president used to diminish the earlier IRS scandal and he now appears hopeful he can be just as successful in minimizing the damage to Hillary Clinton and thus, himself.
Rumors are now swirling that the FBI already has enough to implicate Mrs. Clinton in directly jeopardizing national security. What remains to be known is if that jeopardy was willful or merely negligent.
Both are capable of generating a recommendation from the FBI to the Justice Department that formal charges be brought against the former Obama Secretary of State and there has been a more recent flurry of speculation that such charges could be forthcoming within the next month or two.
That risk is said to be a primary motivating factor behind Bernie Sanders determination to stay in the race all the way to the Democrat convention this summer. And now with the Republican primary race having been conceded to Donald Trump, media focus will shift, at least in part, to the ongoing FBI investigation against Hillary Clinton.
If FBI Director James Comeys intent was to finalize the investigation after the primary election cycle had somewhat diminished, this would the time to do just that, and such timing now towers over the lame-duck presidency of Barack Obama and the scandal-plagued political aspirations of Hillary Clinton.
Trump beats anyone he faces.
Which he cannot do, it puts him in contempt of Court.
You may be conflating two separate investigations.
Bryan Paglioano, the technician who installed Hillary's private serve, reportedly negotiated an immunity deal with the FBI and is 'singing" to their interrogators.
Separately, he has refused to testify to a Congressional committee -- which he is free to do, since the immunity deal does't extend to them.
Obama’s vanity and desire for securing an enduring legacy might force him to throw Hillary under the bus. The question is what set of values will Obama resort to in making this decision.
If one just stands back and looks at the whole thing from beginning to end....you are left with only two explanations.
One, that she and the people around her are absolute naive and childish wannabe-executives...who couldn’t even run a PTA association affair in selling cookies without screwing up.
Two, that they planned to dispense the classified data out to paid Foundation members from day one. It may even be that she was stupid enough to fall for some story from Sid, and Sid himself was the one who wanted to sell the insider information (like Kissinger did in the 1980s).
In either case, why would you vote for someone that immature?
As for the connection back to Benghazi...I’m more likely to believe that she just wasn’t told by Sid that security was important and that after the murders occurred....all Sid could do was tell her to shut up and insist it was some stupid ‘other’ reason for the episode to occur. I think without Sid....she could not perform or function. Sid was there to read the script and tell her what to say.
Do what is right under law not under the rule of our tyrant leader.
Yes, there is still much to be done. Unfortunately it stretches back through the Obama White House into the Bush administration. Many still deserve jail even if it comes late.
You don’t think Trump could win in a three way contest with Biden and Sanders? Sanders is being encouraged to go independent.
She may skate but she won’t be president.
The Democrat power brokers and Obama won’t accept Sanders as a late to the game Democrat. There’s already been a couple of Biden puff pieces from the media. Joe is warming up. There’s a good chance we’ll see a three way with Trump, Biden and Sanders as an independent.
He could which wouldn’t do wonders to her approval ratings in the polls. The might make a lot of fence sitters bolt from any consideration of Hillary.
That would tar with something she could not get rid of.
His own, of course.
By allowing the FBI to indict Hillary, Obama retains his control over the party and gains control over the Clintons.
The indictment will come with a pre-agreed pardon (for Hillary AND Bill), to be executed in January, 2017. Whereupon, Hillary will step down...and support the transfer of her delegates to Biden. Wi8th his surrogate in place, Obama retains effective control of the party.
With the promise of a pardon, Obama has gained control over the Clintons -- and there will be mutual pledges to keep lips sealed (about Benghazi and sundry corruptions).
Two different situations. Pagliano is refusing to testify in front of Congress, but he is testifying to the FBI, having been granted immunity by the latter.
“Where did the $6 billion go from the State Dept while she was there?”
I’ll go out on a limb and guess ... that was the total liquor tab for all of her travel time while she was SecState
It doesn't matter which it is. It's a crime either way.
“What remains to be known is if that jeopardy was willful or merely negligent.”
This, among other things with a similar theme, should be used against Hillary’s candidacy in the general (if she’s not indicted first). The Clinton campaign has tipped their hand at what they will use to target Trump - that he’s ‘not fit’ for the Presidency. That approach unravels for them quickly if their own candidate has bigger issues with this, and she does. Poor judgment, arrogantly feeling ‘above the law’, or neglect, and that’s just a start.
Best case scenario IMHO.
Gerald Fords pardon of Nixon was not legal.
Fact is , there is very little Nixon did that could have been prosecuted so the whole point was moot
Both sides were happy with the pardon
Ford was able to movd on as president
The Democrats were delighted to have run Nixon outof the White House and were not eager to challenge Fords pardon only to have disclose to the world that all they ever had on Nixon was trumped up BS
If he had left the Special Prosecutor alone chances are he could have weathered the storm same as Clinton did, but he wouldn't trust the system and it cost him his Presidency.
Your scenario leaves out the most important item. The US Constitution provides for a vice president.
