That’s a pity
Trump not bribing is a negative in the morally confused Cruz world.
Heh heh. This is actually very good for Trump. And not because he’s being cheap.
...t also calls into question whether his operation is organized enough...
Because what we need is a president that is good at paperwork.
We don’t need a leader that can lay out a vision, we need a lawyer; a bureaucrat; an insider that plays the game.
How do delegates typically get to a convention? This whole delegate thing is going whacko fast..
I would not want to spend $5,000 of my own money for a trip to Cleveland.
If Trump or any candidate pays a dime to any delegate it is criminal bribe and at minimum will get the delegate disqualified.
That’s the trouble with dragging warm bodies off the street opposed to delegates that are familiar with and have worked in the system.
Next we’ll hear Trump and bots crying about “bribery charges” are unfair.
If he was the headline would say- Trump bribes delegates with free plane trips
Oh noes! Cruz and Sanders people have to beg too! How awful!
So, this story is based on people who are doing this on their own with no communication to the Trump campaign.
What’s wrong with Trump supporters crowd funding their delegates travel expenses?
Think hard dummy.
The Trump Team may be slow to react to the money problem. I’m sure they will work it out once they figure out if these needy delegates are legitimate.
Talk about making mole hills into mountains . . .
It helps to read the whole article.
“And Trump supporters arent alone; delegates for Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders have asked the Internet for help funding their travel, too.”
Tell the delegates to hitch-hike and bring a sleeping bag to sleep in. Poor little $nowflake$ ALERT!
What a weird world these people live in when they consider this to be an unusual circumstance. This happens all the time with delegates; I’ve spoken with many who held fundrasing car washes, bake sales, yard sales (and a few who mortgaged their homes) to pay for the journey to any party convention. I’ve never heard of a campaign paying for these trips.
I don’t think the candidates or superPACs can pay the expenses for the delegates. But I think an individual donor can.
There are several things that play a part in who is put up as a delegate for the convention in the primaries. One of them is who can afford to go. After all, it is a volunteer post and something of a hobby for the average delegate who sees it as the only “perk” they get for the hard work of running a party apparatus, regardless of the party, Dem or Rep.
Folks new to politics sometimes don’t know that being a delegate isn’t just cheering at rallies for your candidate. You normally have to work your way up the party ladder, starting with making phone calls, raising money, putting out signs and bumper stickers.
And the final thing folks new to politics will find out is that the title of delegate will get you a cup of bad coffee at party headquarters but very few, if any, local party organization are going to pay your way to the convention.
Meanwhile, other Trumpists are THREATING Cruz Delegates.
Just received 2 postcards that included my phone # on the front:

They cannot afford to travel to Ohio? Something someone should have thought about before signing up to be a delegate to a convention on Ohio.
Is there any legal reason a campaign cannot pay their delegates travel expenses? It seems to me that it would be a legitimate campaign expense.
I am not suggesting putting money into any of the delegates’ pockets, just paying the reasonable and necessary costs of getting them to the convention.
Nice ground game ya got there Donald.
